Cannot chat using Ventrilo 64bit

<p>I am using Windows 7, 64bit, the 64bit Ventrilo client and playing Everquest 2.  My mic is plugged into the correct jack on my X-Fi Platinum.  I have assigned a chat key and whenever I press it, the speaker turns green but no one can hear me.  I have tried just about all setting combinations I can think of for Input, Output, etc.  Can anyone offer any input?</p>

<p>Are you starting vent by right clicking and selecting run as administrator?</p>

<p>I have changed both vent and eq2 to be run as admin permanently, yes.</p>

<p>Really silly question, but does your mic have a mute switch on it or somewhere along its cord?</p><p>Does that same mic work with other applications like Skype, or any sound recorder?</p>
