Just looking for some advice from my fellow SK's. I came back to the game a short while ago and finished up an SK I had been working on. I have been trying to get into doing SF instances but am having an incredibly hard time doing so and have yet to actually tank any of them to completion. Though I have had some success with doing the old scaleable TSO zones scaled to 90. I currently have over 60% mitigation, and well over 50% block unbuffed, over 16k hp and over 10k avoidance in defensive. Crit mit is a bit low but there really hasn't been any crit mit gear I have seen and most fights when I look over the log I am not seeing that criticals are a huge factor. I have gotten a few upgrades. Molderite items out of commonlands scaled to 90, and a couple items out of a Vigilant: Infiltration run I somehow got begged to do but was unable to finish.

Obviously I need more hp, but can't seem to get started to get any better gear than I already have. Any suggestions for a new tank to get started in SF? Please don't say bg's... I would prefer to do the PVE route if possible. Maybe I am hitting the wrong zones but there isn't much of a guide anywhere as to what zones to hit first.

go into the hole on the rat side. go all the way over to the other side of that area where big crowds of the rats spawn (easier with a slowfall item) and start mass killing them, which should be relatively easy on even a moderately-geared SK. once you begin to have enough faction with the Defenders and the Guardians you can go over to their sides and do the faction quests they offer, many of which offer marks as rewards. the other side benefit to this is both the faction merchants in those areas offer relatively decent gear that'll probably be an upgrade for you. even bigger bonus is its heirloom, so you only have to do this tedious crap on one character. it's basically what my SK did to help the beginning gear situation.

also you can use the marks you got as quest rewards to get yourself some of the armour out of painel.

good luck!-Gar

I switched mains from a ranger. Don't worry about crit mit., It is only a factor in the harder instances and then not by much. If you are in the 20-30% of crit mit you are fine.

This is what I did. Ran the scaled TSO zones until I was all in legendary from those zones. Scion and DF drop some nice plate legendary that is good to start with. With those drops I ran Conservaroy, Labs, Library Halls and all the hole instances.
