Am a new player and decided to roll a SIN, got to say loving the game and the class, never played a rogue before in a MMO and in EQ2 I really feel like an Assassin.

Just hit 24 last night and now have a choice of my Grandmaster CA's which are either Mortal Blade or Eviscerate.

Previously on my last GM choice I went with Eviscerate and used it loads with the cheap shot trick.

Now I've got Mortal Blade, it's the hardest hitting CA so far and 1 shot pretty much kills any normal mob of my level but where I can't decide is that the GM Mortal Blade is even more powerful but the only issue it's on a 2 min CD.

Eviscerate is a 1 min CD so I'm guessing I'll use Evis more than I will Mortal Blade so thinking I should go for a stronger option of Evis as Mortal Blade is already powerfull enough. But then I think with an GM Mortal Blade that really is my get out of jail free card if things are going wrong?

Not sure what to do.

Also while I'm on I think I'm struggling to get the best out of my CA's I've read up on the posts and got a longer delayed weapon but as my most of my CA's need me to be in Stealth or behind, as I'm soloing once my Cheap Shot is on CD I don't have any tricks to get into stealth or behind the mob (or a combination of both) quick enough to get the desired CA's off.

I've got Point Blank shot from the AGI AA line but annoyingly while it stuns the mob, if I try and run behind while the mob is on the floor it auto faces me while on the ground so my CA's are usless in that situation.

I may well be missing something here but I can't see how I can use Jugular slice or Ambush.

Finally one other thing I noticed I seem to have not gotten a skill at level 20?

According to this http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Assassin I should have trick of the hunter but never got it, and not in spellbook? Again have I missed something sorry if any of these are newbie questions but I couldn't find the answers in other posts.

thanks

Well personally i would go with mortal blade. But i don't think it really matters a lot either way. 2 min reuse vs 1 min reuse ... and the big damage is great for a named for quick takedown.

Getting in the back position is a bit harder for assassins as we dont have walk the plank like swashies for example. But with your two stuns you should be able to get them down move behind them use masked strike and eviscerate (not sure why it isnt working with point blank shot). That's the only two for now where you need to be behind the mob. And you should be able to pull them off before the stun wears off (especially after you get poise and repeated stabbing from AA ... and after you add 1 sec stun with AA).

As for Mortal Blade , Jugular Slice , Ambush and Massacre they can all be done in front off the mob. Just use Stalk and you can deliver one of them. Till lvl 50 when you can concealment its not possible to unleash a string of stealth attacks. Just make sure you start combat with a stealth attack (preferably jugular slice or another long reuse CA)

As for your weapon delay, try to get 4 seconds endgame weapons atm are all 4 seconds ... although even with 2 sec delay you shouldnt have a big problem unlike rangers your CA's dont take ages. Just make sure you time them between attacks.

Trick of the Hunter is part of the Splitpaw adventure pack you need to do the quest line to be able to buy it. It's not essential as it shares its timer with Caltrops.

Thanks, that is so useful.

I tried stalk and then the other skill but could never get them off in time before I was brought out of stalk by the mob, should it be point blank shot first then stalkthe DPS Ca's?

Do you think trick of the hunter is worth the time investment to get?

I'm also thinking about a mount but I read somewhere that I don't need one being a scout?

I'm level 30 now and fed up of running everywhere so slowly, do I get a speed boost later or for 15plat should I get the warhorse?

I also read somewhere that Sin's can do a sort of life tap with a poision is this true as it would be handy to have, I've run out of posions at the moment so not sure which to buy from the broker, can I have more than 1 active?

Also is there a good place to get arrows as I can only find them from the venors.

Thanks again.

p.s. can't seem to find any 4.0 sec delay weapons at this level, it' 1.6, 3.0 or 5.0

so many things.

#1, please don't call my class a SIN. Its offensive to me. Other days, I would have more nasty things to say about that, but I'm letting it slide today.

#1B We are not rogues. Not positive you were saying we were, but just wanted to clear that up. Rogues are brigs and swashies.

#2 not that grand master choices matter at such a low level, but I would have gone with mortal blade. You've already got the previous tier GM of eviscerate, unless the master of the current tier drops, you probably will keep using that for another 10 levels. so this way you have 2 grand masters to use. Overall, its a better upgrade. Of course, this is assuming mortal blade is an apprentice. If you've gotten an expert for it, then pick something else.

#3 whoever told you that a scout does not need a mount .... I want you to write thier name down and keep it by the computer. Make them the first entry on the list of people not to listen to. That is exatraordinarily silly. Assassins only get a 16% run speed buff that stacks with nothing. I only even cast it to annoy groupmates.

#4 Best way to get behind a mob if you can't sneak up and one shot. Cheap shot or point blank shot (of, coming soon, hilt bash) run straight through them ... don't bother trying to turn around or anything, you will automatically do it and you don't have time to do it manually ... then masked strike (masked is much better, quicker cast time and with a 10s reuse it should always be available) and your biggest backstab. Only drawback to maked is that you have to get to at least flanking before you can use it. If you are having trouble with that, then stun the mob, hit stalk and run behind while stalk is casting, then use the big backstab.

Oh yeah, I just remembered mortal blade is not positional. You could get away with a stun, stalk, mortal most of the time if you chain them together without having to get its back.

#5 Trick of the hunter is kind of worthless, but if you like to kite, it might be good. Best case that can be made for getting it is that the splitpaw expansion pack is kinda fun. Especially the trial of hardgrave.

#6 I don't think weapon delay matters at your level. Just get the best weapons you can find and try to match the delays.

#7 Lifetap poisons are called vitality breaches. They are made by alchemists (players) so make an alchy freind or buy them on the broker. Stupefying poisons are also made by alchemists and are cool, they proc stuns. however, i'm not sure at what level you can start using those items.

#8 the best arrows are made by players (woodworkers). Look on the broker or level up a woodworker. Actually, I'd recommend leveling up an alchemist if you are inclined to tradeskill.

There are probably others, but those are the ones I think I've seen do it. This is without the aid of totems, with which anyone can stealth. Are they all rogues too?

Just cause I get provoked by your massive ego, let me point out that it is called: Trial of Harclave.

You can run 3 poisons at once, made easy by colors: red (dmg), blue (tricks like stun), purple (debuffs)

Not 100% sure that my alchy has all recipees, I think most though, and seems you can get these at:

Lvl 52 for the Vitality poison

Lvl 62 for the stun poison (called Stupefying)
