When I logged in today, I noticed that when clicking on update, it gave an error 1002. It updates fine on US, but I'm using EU. I then though, I will try running it as administrator and all hell broke lose.

Now I'm getting Unable to Retrieve assets from the server. Please retry in a few minutes. The patcher screen is double the size and it looks all wrong.

Is this a server issue or my installation?

Cheers

Tirm

My launchpad log file is showing the following :

** Starting at Tue Jun 29 14:04:33 2010 with version 3.0.0.206 *****Warning: Navigation Error for URL: http://sdlab-cabuild1.ad.soe.sony.c...mp;locale=en_US*Error: Error Code: -2146697211Error Message: INET_E_RESOURCE_NOT_FOUNDError Description: The server or proxy was not found

Which suggests either the patch server is down (I did see there was a patch today) or my firewall is causing it, which is odd as nothing has changed. I have also disabled windows 7 firewall to no avail

Same issue. I cannot get into the game. Double sized launch screen, no buttons available and error that it could not retrieve assests, choice to retry or close. There was a small update just before this problem started. Playing EU server. No access available to try the US servers now. Can't do a thing.

No, you are not the only one. I am about to throw a little girl fit here! I am not wanting to reinstall to solve this.

I have tried launching without EQ2Maps and the problem remains.

I honestly believe that the patch server is down, the launchpad.log shows this quite clearly and I can't ping the patch server.

I did a system restore of my PC to yesterday and am now able to at least access the US server side. I am going to attempt to try the EU side now. Also note I recycled my router (unplugged for 30 seconds) and it did not help the situation.

I selected EU servers and clicked Save on the EQ 2 Launcher screen. It began to update and "An error occured communicating with the system: 1002. Error Code: 1002"

The game became "Unplayable" (edit should read "Unable to Play") again.

I then changed it back to US servers and Saved. It remains "Unplayable" (edit should read "Unable to Play") with the same error listed above.

I just did a system restore to yesterday, at least the launchpad loads correctly now, but same as you, error 1002. There is no launchpad.log entry, however an entry did get put into .DownloadError.txt and .DownloadInfo.txt. Here is the line from .DownloadError.txt:

Tue Jun 29 16:22:48 2010: BadFileSig - Uninstaller.exe - http://eq2.patch.station.sony.com/p...93889&cb=JD

And from .DownloadInfo.txt:

**** Starting at Tue Jun 29 16:21:59 2010 with plug-in 1.0.3.120 ****Finished downloading 2,211,957 bytes in 1.057 seconds (2,092,674 bytes per second)**** Starting at Tue Jun 29 16:22:23 2010 with plug-in 1.0.3.120 ****Finished downloading 5,105,707 bytes in 4.797 seconds (1,064,354 bytes per second)09d8:*Error: BadFileSig - Uninstaller.exe - http://eq2.patch.station.sony.com/p...93889&cb=JD0a84igest: http://eq2.patch.station.sony.com/p...7/eq2-eu-en.soe0a84:UserID: <Removed>0a84lug-in Versions: 120,1200a84:InstallPath: C:/ProgramData/Sony Online Entertainment/Installed Games/EverQuest II

This is the first thing I have ever used system restore for. I have only been using computers since 1995 and back then it was gateway goback that I used but nothing since then. Glad to see it actually works.

I am wondering if I might have too many characters? Might that be the problem? I have 7 on US servers. I thought I was allowed 7 on EU servers as well? I am very new to the game so please be patient with me. Though I am not new at all to gaming.

Not sure if its related but I notice every patch- my virus protection "McAfee" notifies me of a file change and asks if access should be allowed.

Double check to make sure your protection programs have the new file permissions set.

Just posted this in the 'connection problems' forum:

I'm using the streaming client, on day 8 of my 14 day trial, and logged in fine. Logged out and the launchpad received a small update and now all I get is an oversized grey box sitting behind the launcher saying 'Unable to retrieve assets from the server'.

log file shows the following:

*Warning: Navigation Error for URL: http://sdlab-cabuild1.ad.soe.sony.c...mp;locale=en_GB

*Error: Error Code: -2146697211

Error Message: INET_E_RESOURCE_NOT_FOUND

Error Description: The server or proxy was not found

I've tried the usual rebooting and router power cycling, would seem pretty obvious that the launcher patch screwed something up.

This is still not resloved. Does anyone with Technical Support read these posts? I am too new to know for sure if they even exist here.

I thought the streaming client was a thing of beauty and very refreshing way of patching. I was playing within 3 minutes of my trial starting it was great.

Then today, its completely broken and instead of playing, I have spent the last 9 hours downloading using the clunky Station Launchpad.

Its really dissapointing

I'm not gonna screw with my own machine, this is a server side SOE problem. Too bad the communication officer is on holidays, or otherwise engaged...

I am downloading the Station Launcher as I type this. The download is at 53% agonizingly speedless crawl. If this does not fix this mess I will be very disappointed. Oh yeah, jumped to 54%!

I'm having the same trouble with just a slight variation... just throwing my moral support out there.

I get this error:

>>There was a problem moving C:ProgramDataSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest IIlp_tempEverQuest2.exe_delta_9377_337.patched to C:ProgramDataSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest IIEverQuest2.exe.
