Not sure if this is lore, but does anyone have any pictures of the Sultan either a screen-shot or other official artwork? I never got to see him when DoF came out.

Also what kind of lore does he have behind him?

There isn't a "Sultan", per say. The Maj'Dul storyline leads you to becomming an ally with all 3 court factions, where you soon find out that an Erudite named Mudeef, the Vizier of the Tower of Moon, approached Dorn B'Dynn and the Court of Tears to help usurp power from the rightful rulers of Maj'Dul.

Through deception and all that stuff, he took control of Maj'Dul, locked himself up into the Library of Light to make sure that nobody ever sees him, and let Maj'Dul fall into the state that is it, under the guise that the 3 courts are "effectively" ruling the city in balance, while the citizens live in poverty, and a guild of assassins control everything like puppets.

Now, if I remember correctly, feel free to correct me if this isn't completley correct, but I believe the rulers of the 3 courts are are directly blood related to Ahkarem, the actual ruler of Maj'Dul who was exiled to the Pillars of Flame thanks to Mudeef, Dorn, and the Rujarkian Orcs.

You probably shouldn't have any real problem completing the Maj'Dul Fate and Destiny storyline solo at this point in time if you want to see everything for yourself. No epics to kill or anything. You can solo the whole thing grey.

As mentioned, the Sultan of Maj'Dul is dead. He left behind 4 sons, the eldest of which (and therefore the rightful heir to the throne) was banished by Mudeef, the Sultan's Advisor. Mudeef made a deal with a Djinn in order to become immortal. The terms of this deal basically stated that Mudeef would continue to live in order to maintain order in the city for as long as the throne of Maj'Dul was left empty. In order to ensure that the throne would remain empty, Mudeef formed an alliance with the nearby orc clans and the Court of Tears assassins to form a sort of shadow orgainization to control events outside of the public eye. He also set each of the king's three youngest sons against one another by forcing them to compete for the right to claim the throne. This is why each son now presides over one of the three courts. Of course, Mudeef manipulates events in secret to make sure no single court ever gets the advantage.

Over the course of the questline, you will discover the identity and whereabouts of the eldest prince, help him to unravel the plot of Mudeef and the Court of Tears, save Maj'Dul from an orcish invasion, and eventually break the agreement between Mudeef and the Djinni and restore the rightful heir to the throne of Maj'Dul. I highly recommend persuing this questline if you enjoy lore-heavy quests, as it really is one of the most interesting ones in the game.

Seem to remember being annoyed you needed to kill epic x2s to access the heroic ^^^ needed for the quest, tho its a while since so may be completely misremembering.

Oh right, forgot about those guys. Ok, aside from those two level 55 epics, the rest of the questline isn't difficult to complete anymore.
