Looking for a family-style, light-to-medium roleplay guild on a laid back server?

Consider LEGENDS OF THE TUNDRA!

Who are Legends of the Tundra

Is Legends of the Tundra a roleplaying guild?

OK, so what is the roleplay rationale for Legends of the Tundra?

So how do I participate in the guild?

Does Legends of the Tundra have any formal guild rules?

How does the guild bank work?

How do I become a clan elder (officer)?

Who are Legends of the Tundra

Legends of the Tundra was the second-oldest guild on the Lucan D'Lere server, established December 1st, 2004, and are now housed on the Crushbone server. We are level 90, which means we have a lot of capable people who have done tons of crafting and questing available to offer advice, help new members with crafting requests, and even mentor down and help younger players from time to time.

Is Legends of the Tundra a roleplaying guild?

Yes, Lucan D'Lere had a roleplaying culture, and we as a guild participate. However, we're not going to say you must be in character all the time. Mainly if you're speaking where players outside of the guild can hear you, then try to be in character. Guild chat or personal tells can be however you like.

A bit of our roleplay can be found here, in the forums, with another thread following a while later.

You can also see some of our member's persona stories on the Legends of the Tundra website.

OK, so what is the roleplay rationale for Legends of the Tundra?

The invading Rallosian snow orcs set Halas ablaze, destroying the sacred homeland of the barbarians. The last remnants of the once great clans - mostly the too old, too young, or too sick to remain and fight - fled the frozen tundra of Everfrost. Into the wretched darkness of Blackburrow they raced, trading the terror of the pursuing orcs for new bloodshed at the hands of the foul smelling gnoll hordes infesting the caves. As hope began to dim, fresh cool air touched their faces and they emerged once more into sunlight.

The clans scattered. Some went directly to the cities to warn of the oncoming Rallosian horde and aid in the defense. Others lived in secret in the far reaches of the north, clinging tenaciously to their proud heritage and struggling to make their way alone. They waited for a time when Halas could be reclaimed, but it was not to be. The continents were torn asunder, the moon Luclin shattered in the night sky, and the world our fathers had known was gone forever. One by one, the last of the barbarians closed their eyes to dreams of their icy homelands and headed to the cities. There was little hope, but at least there was safety - and survival.

Norrath has changed, and no isolated race can survive and prosper in this environment. The fact that we all arrived in Qeynos and Freeport as penniless refugees made that point abundantly clear. During our time in these cities, barbarians have lived and fought side by side with many races strange and new to us. At first, as with all things different, we viewed them with a degree of suspicion and mistrust. Over time, however, we grew to respect their differences as well as discover many common ties that brought us closer together.

It is time to tear down the walls of suspicion and mistrust and unite with our allies of all races who agree to join in our quest. The snows of Everfrost must be cleansed of the evil that drove us from our homes, the city of Halas restored to its former greatness. With this new alliance, perhaps we can even aspire to more than rebuilding the glories of the past, and instead accomplish deeds our fathers could never have imagined.

Today, united under the banner of the white dragon, a few of the remaining Northlanders and their allies forge a new destiny. Honoring the legends of the past. Destined to become the legends of the future. All hail the LEGENDS OF THE TUNDRA!

So how do I participate in the guild?

Just grouping with fellow members when possible and being a part of our existence in any way is participation. Even comic relief can be a form of participation! And of course, doing city writs and heritage quests to earn status for the guild is a big help!

As an added bonus, we also provide a monetary reward for members who reach various levels of contribution:

Raider (0 points required) - This is your rank as you join the guild.

Kinsman (5,000 points) - 5g award

Clan Warmonger (50,000 points) - 50g award

Clan Champion (100,000 points) - 1p award

Clan Dragonguard (500,000 points) - 2p award

Clan Legend (1,000,000 points) - 3p award

How You Can Help, Basic Version

It's good, however, to think also of what the new member offers BACK to the guild. The SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT thing you offer to your guild and guildmates is a cheerful, fun presence. We are here to all have a good time. We're a daffy, slightly irreverent crew of smartasses, and we like to have fun together. What we need most from YOU, the new member, is that you don't rain on our parade, don't bring us down, don't blow our "high on Norrath". Play WITH us, let's all have a great time TOGETHER, whether it's just a little banter in guild chat, or grouping, or a bit of roleplay with folks you meet in the guildhall.

If you will do just that - be a fun person to be around - you have done everything you need to to to "give back" to the guild.

How You Can Help, Intermediate Version

Some folks want to serve in other ways, and give more. And we thank such folks with all our hearts, because they help make this guild work smoothly. Here's how you can help, if you want to do more:

Run adventure writs and/or crafting writs. The guild at 80 can't level further, but this helps YOU gain status. Please deposit some of that status in the guildhall door from time to time, as it's part of the rent we pay for the hall.

Contribute money for the guildhall rent. Roughly, the total cost of the Legends guildhall with amenities was around 450p + 25 million in status. The weekly upkeep runs about 7p and another 200,000 status.

Harvest ANY tier, and deposit your harvested raws in the guild Harvest Box. This can benefit YOU as well - keep and sell the rares! But adding the harvests to the box helps a LOT of guild crafters, including those who are making stuff for YOU.

How You Can Help, Advanced Version

Did you know that you do not have to wait for a guild leader or guild officer to make stuff happen?

YOU can plan and run roleplaying events.

YOU can plan and run raids (and we have experienced raid leaders who can teach you how!)

Want to organize a specific instance run, or quest series? -- then take charge and do so!

If you will take responsibility for your own fun, and try once or twice to organize and run something fun for others, you might just find that it's a blast to do fun things with a bunch of your friends!

Does Legends of the Tundra have any formal guild rules?

Legends of the Tundra has one basic rule, which is NO DRAMA! We expand upon this basic rule for the sake of clarity as follows:

Please read the following points and understand that if you cannot adhere to them, or the philosophies therein, you may/will be booted from the guild.

No Stalking/Harassing (duh).

Be nice to guild leaders and officers. Although the Elders and Chieftains are always open to listen to your concerns about game-related issues, we are NOT:

Online marriage counselors

Suicide prevention operators

Psychologists

Punching bags to take out your abuse on, then apologize to profusely when you have sobered up.

Please realize where the game ends and reality begins. If you find yourself getting mad, crying in vent, drinking to ease the pain of playing the game, please STEP AWAY from the PC and re-evaluate your priorities in life. EQ2 should be fairly low on the list of important things.

No threats of harm/death threats (another duh)

Remember you wear the guild tag and heraldry. You have floating over your head, and you wear the guild's heraldry on your cloak. Treat others in the game with honor and integrity that will bring fame and honor to the guild.

How does the guild bank work?

The guild bank feature can be quite a useful tool, but does need some structured rules to ensure that gold and valuable items are put to the best use of the guild and its members. These rules may adapt and change as we go along, but here are the general rules we are currently following:

Bank 1 is for rares, fabled items (weapons etc...) and heritage starters. This bank can only be accessed by clan champions and above. We have limited the withdrawals per day for everyone but guild leaders as an additional safeguard, since these are the most valuable items of the guild and must be well secured. Note that any member of LoT is allowed to trade for these items as described below, but you'll need to work with a higher ranking guild member to take care of the transaction.

If there is a valuable item in bank 1 that you can use, you need to deposit an item or items of equal value as a trade. This can be kind of a grey area since all rares, even of the same tier, may not be of equal value. We may have to use the current market value of the items (based on average broker price over the last week or two) in some cases to determine if a proposed trade is fair. Some general guidelines we are thinking of here would be to trade similar items for each other, using the tiers to determine how many of one tier should be traded for one of another tier. For example, 1 t5 rare for 5 t1 rares, or 2 t2 rares and 1 t1 rare for 1 t5 rare. For now, the leadership council (leader and officers) will likely have to make the call on what is considered a fair trade. Since the uncommon items used for imbuing generally do not have a very high value, we are offering those for free if you need them to craft your gear.

Banks 2, 3, and 4 are for anything notable another clan member could use, often things like Adept I skill upgrades, collectible items, and advanced tradeskill books. The withdrawal requirements are looser here so that everyone above Raider rank can more freely trade items in these banks.

Because banks 2, 3, and 4 can fill up quite quickly, we need to clean them out regularly, selling the items and placing the proceeds into the guild treasury. We'll try to hold on to things that might be more rare and therefore expensive if someone had to buy it on the broker. For example, a high level Adept I may be worth keeping in the bank, while some lower level tradeskill books will be vendored off because they are cheap and easy to get on the broker if someone needed it in the future.

One overall rule of the guild bank is that your deposits of coin or items to the banks are donations to the guild (and are greatly appreciated). We have no member "tax" in our guild, so the only way we collect any funds is through these donations. This money is used primarily to pay out awards to members who reach various levels of SP contribution (see guild rules for details).

The guild bank is not like a real world bank where you are making an investment and each person has a balance that they can withdraw later. Once you have deposited an item, it is now owned by the guild, so it's not a place to store overflow items from your personal bank that you want back later. You may be able to withdraw that item again if nobody else has taken it, or it may be sold if the bank fills up - no guarantees. Any items in banks 2-4 can be withdrawn by any member above Raider rank without regard for how many they have previously contributed. We ask that you only take things usable by your character, however, not to simply sell them. Your personal savings and items should remain in your own bank. Any temporary loans you may need should be handled directly with other players - we are not using the guild bank for that purpose.

The only exception to the "all deposits are donations" rule is the trading of rare items described above. However, we are still not keeping track of a balance in that case either. Anything you want in return for a rare deposit must be taken at the time of the deposit. If there is nothing in the bank that you could take as a trade for an item deposit, it's probably best to sell the item instead or continue to hold it in your personal bank. In the case of something very rare (like fabled gear) it would be nice to ask around if any guild members would like to make a direct trade or purchase it from you before you put it on the broker.

How do I become a clan elder (officer)?

The Council selects all new elders from the guild membership. The only other requirement is that you have been with the guild and playing regularly for a minimum of two months.

Every member can't be a clan elder, but the number of elders will grow in relation to the overall growth of the guild. Becoming an elder is completely voluntary. This is a position of authority, and with power comes responsibility. If you do not want the added responsibility, you may simply decline the promotion and we will search for another candidate. There are no negative consequences of declining - you may continue on as a member just as before.

If you accept a clan elder position, then you are committing yourself to give some of your playtime to perform guild duties. Being an elder is a larger commitment to the clan than being a member. You must be prepared to dedicate some time in service to the clan.

Guild leaders do not often change, but if the need arises one of our elders will be promoted to guild leader.
