I don't know what's going on, but all of the sudden, I am getting lag that lasts several seconds when playing the game.

When i try to open doors, and gather shinies. From my UI, and fighting mobs.

I've never had lag before up until last week and it has continued.

Anyone else on the MM server having this kind of trouble?

I am using Roadrunner from TWC in the NE Ohio region.

No router, my computer is hooked up to my modem. I even changed out modems, still notice lag.

Doesn't make my game unplayable, but its annoying and noticeable.

Thanks for help or tips that come my way

I am not sure of the particulars, maybe someone here knows the IPs, but do a traceroute to the EQ2 servers and it will show where the issue is.

Maybe check the knowledge base.

Just found this:

Open the command prompt and type the following lines:

tracert (your server).everquest.com

If the lag is visual (i.e. it feels like you're watching a slideshow) then your problem is probably on your end of things. Fix whatever is wrong with your computer (add more RAM, cool it better, upgrade your drivers, or w/e) and it will improve.

If the lag is in response to commands (for example, you click a combat art or spell and it takes several seconds before it fires), and others in the same zone are experiencing the same thing, then you're experiencing what is typically referred to as "command lag" or "serverside lag." This is typically the result of something that you cannot control as a player, and is frequently caused by things like high population on the server and/or in the zone. If its serverside lag, then unfortunately there's jack-all you can do about it besides transferring to an underpopulated server. I hear Oasis is nice this time of year.

If you judge by level 90 players, Mistmoore has every server except the Euro servers and exchange beat in the contest for low population. Even Oasis.

WTB merge and during primetime TW in my area bogs down HARD. So when you test it do so at different times of the day, as this is the weakness of having cable internet.

Thank you so much for all your responses.

I know for a fact it isn't video lag, I can tell the difference for I already have & have had that since I installed this game Lol. My wishlist is to upgrade everything on my comp...

ANYWAYS... It happens randomingly. Earlier today I left the room and came back to see a black screen with a lil box with a message "Couldn't find login server" and a QUIT button.

I have NEVER have had this problem till recently. I really don't think its serverside, has to be an issue with my line...

Curious question though..

If the problem lies within my coax-cable line, could it be because I'm using a 3-way splitter but only have two lines connected.

One going to the DVR box, and the other to my modem. So that leaves one open port, do you think that the main line is trying to send a signal to the open port and causing server packet loss?

Sounds stupid trying to explain it, so I'm sorry if I look like a fool.. Lol but i'm desperate, probably should just have a Time Warner Cable tech come test the line...

hi fellow NE ohioan, i live there too, but played on Butcherblock server.

just for your information.

NE ohio is known for most density that had required 3 different region "Area Code", due to most beepers, old phones, cell phones, and Ipods, and heavy amount of cables and wireless, actaully almost twice as NYC's population as most counted devices.

i know, it seem crazy, but the fact is here and real, you are looking at part of east cleveland-east akron-youngstown, even add Sharon and Lancaster PA, that pretty thick and known for old steel mills, those are long gone and now mostly business schools, restaurants, and market chains.

anyway, if you are experiencing some internet lags, just as other said, check memory space, or card might be loose and wiggly, or check defrag or PC properities and see if it is almost full, or somehow "corrupted" with broken files get cluttered up, or dead files in registry.

or unless if your house is hot, and computer may run sluggy, or check fans if pretty dirty.

last possible theory, outside sources of interfering, or wireless signal may have been too close from other home next doors, or sometimes in other people's vehicals, or someone doing line tap illegally to gain access to "switch cable boxes", if it is hanging on roadside with trees, or lot of winds or wind wakes caused by passing trucks can disorted internet lags.

good luck
