Going to generally need more information to help, like system specs, ect... But if your running Vista/W7, are you running the game in admin mode? Not the launcher, but the everquest2.exe itself?

edit : typo : (

Problem is is that they haven't! Since 2008! And if they have they aren't saying anything. It is their issue.

So, both launchers are doing this? What happens when you try to run the game without going though any launchers, and run the game directly?

Try the "lauchpad" and not "eq2 launcher", and try just running "everquest2.exe" - then report back.

Youd be surprised at whats relavent when troubleshooting, btw. Diagnosing a computer, though a forum, with limited to no information, is one of the hardest things there is to do. The best thing to do is to read the stickied posts in this thread and post your log files, that helps a ton.

The only reason why I haven't given out any info i just because alot of people did and it wasn't really helping any. For some reason my Station launcher was corrupted so that didn't work. I went and tried to run it mannually and it worked but then i got a stupid server error. It said that Login failed and that the client didn't match the server and i was supposed to "repatch" which i have no idea how to do or anything. Other people has this issue as well but i am not seeing any fixes for these issues. I don't understand why either that i am having them.

Aye I understand it can be very frustrating. It's like "what the heck, it was working yesterday!?". I guess there was a corrupted "patcher" file that was sent out the other day by the server, but has since been fixed. I haven't been reading all the threads you've been posting in, but have you given deleting the patcher file a shot?

Normally if a game tries to load but goes black, a desktop-drop, its a corrupted directx file, or memory issue - causing directx not to load properly.

In simple terms it goes something like the following...

function: <create directx window> if failed to create window (exit).

You are correct though, and that something is happening that is wide spread, which maybe linked to that patcher file. I'd try popping (deleting) the patcher file and the appcashe file if you haven't already.

I only ask for log files since its sometimes pretty easy to see whats going on - like in the other thread where there are a ton of network errors pointing to thier network not being setup correctly (or ports, or what-have-you). I can also understand not posting them since, yea a good amount of time, it all seems like gibberish. but on the other hand the "*** Read before posting ***" thread (stickied) shows the basic format for receiving tech help.

Me personally though, I just try to help where I can, since at times I too have been frustrated by system and game issues.

First of all, thank you so much for paying attention and helping. I am very surprised to not have had any kind of company attention yet and I am glad that the community is taking interest in helping me. God love you all.

Here has what has been so interesting about this whole ordeal. I have downloaded the game. Got the error message blah blah blah. Well, I decided to go search for the patch file (i believe it is patch.vpk) and it wasn't there. Even when I manually tried to play it, that didn't work either because of "login rejected client does not match the server" so i was just kinda like hmmmmm ok. I am starting to doubt weather God wants me to even play the game now in all honesty hahahaha. I am re downloading it (eq2 trial) from a third party and the launcher looks a lot more of like the original and i like that. It is downloading updates so hopefully this maybe some huge problem that sneaked by and got onto my computer that wasn't no ones fault but machines and wires. I do believe this problem is happening to one other person i know of.

One thing that keeps striking me is why are all the issues I am having were dealt with by people back in 2008 and that time area but not now. It is making me wonder what is the problem.

Anyways, like i said, thank you for tips and I will definitely check out the stickied forum so I know how to do this in a more appropriate fashion. I will also check and see if I need an update for Direct X.

My issue has been fixed somehow. I went and downloaded an old trial launcher from fileplanet and it went and downloaded all the updates i needed and i believe and it just worked. I hope that helps anyone else.
