After Thursdays maint I can't even play anymore all the game does is LOCK UP and stops responding. At first it only happened to me when I was playing my SK in the starting area of D woods. Yet this morning it is now affecting my Inq who is in ButcherBlock Mnts.

I load in and less then 15 seconds later crash...

I have played BRAND NEW release MMO's with less crashes and bugs as you have allowed in since the NH release a few weeks ago.

If EQ patches its main *.exe file (aka Everquest2.exe) sometimes windows vista/7 removes admin status from said file.

Make sure this is checked as this happens to be most of the issues with EQ freezing.

That didn't work. Also the game never used admin mode before, and it was working perfectly. It's gotta be something they did just recently.

This is pathetic and guess I should cancel my sub and go back to WoW. (Not because I want to) but because I CAN'T PLAY EQ2 currently.

I run fine on both vista and xp, this isn't a problem with the game, its a problem with your setup. Not saying they didn't change something that caused it, just saying its not happening to everyone else.

what window you running?

What graphic card you using?

did you have Shader 3.0 as checked on?, better turn that off and relog from fresh launcher.

we didnt need "Admin" until recently, so have to run as administrator to get current, if not been getting updated and it is possible if admin would shut it down if files not found on current update and think it would "decline" the access to game or to online services.

all other games do have that "admin" since Microsoft add some kind of codes, i assumed they used WoW as base access for Admins installed, but most other game companies had been working hard and only get admin to recognized game servers, if not updated, and you would get booted.

it not SOE's fault or even Turbinegames's fault, dont blame them on something they dont control, so you need to keep up with window updates to get current game servers as smooth as possible.

i even turn off "Auto-log in", they sometimes boot me off the game, might want check that too.

I'm playing the game with Win 7 Home Premium 64bit. I never run either EQ2 or WoW as admin. The only time you should have to do this is if you run the game in a restricted permission folder such as "Program Files". By default EQ2 now installs to "C:ProgramDataSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest II". It's a hidden folder path so I make a shortcut in My Documents library so I can access it easily for mods without the launcher. Anyway my game hasn't crashed since the update at all (so far... don't jinx me dang it).

I seriously doubt it is your video card unless your running it OC'd or something crazy like that. I would suspect that either:

1. Something got corrupted during your update.

2. Your game performance settings are adjusted too high and your system only has 4GB RAM. If you set performance settings too high without enough memory the game will crash. To test this check your display performance settings.

a. Start the game.

b. At the character select screen click on the "Options" link at the bottom.

c. In the Options window select "Display" on the list at the left and open the "Performance" section in the main window.

d. There is an option called "Performance Profile" with a drop down list to the right. Select "balanced" or anything with performance next to it.

If you have 6GB+ RAM and a really burly system then you can probably run under "High Quality". Unless you have a very powerful system the game doesn't run well at "Very High" or "Extreme". EQ2 is a very CPU intensive game and powerful video cards have less of an impact on performance than the CPU. I have a core i7/920 with 9GB RAM and a GTX260/1.8GB and I can run at extreme but usually only get from 30 - 60fps depending on the area.

If you do have a good video card you can set some display settings to use GPU shadows. This will take some work off of the CPU.

If it's none of that then I'm at a loss and would suggest posting in the support forum. If you do that I would recommend having a DxDiag report ready if it's needed.

check Microsoft's window update? as other said, if not been updated in months if you do get updated then there is possible a corrupted, you can go back to "previous dates", if not working, then go to directly to microsoft's window updater and do manually check each files.

I think you all missed something, he has shader 3.0 checked and evidently will not uncheck it to see if thats the problem. Sooo there is not a lot you can do for him until he changes his stance. You know the little kid tantrum.

Check your sticks of RAM to see if there still good.Run one stick at a time and see if your computer will boot up.Check your fan on your CPU and video card to see if they still spin.If you have a bunch of dust on ether ,hit it with some canned air.

You say it crash's.Does it crash to desktop, blue screen, or the whole scree freeze's.If you could capture a screen shot.

Sometimes stuff just gets corrupted. With your brief description, hard to say.Uninstalling and redown loading the entire game or at least a full file scan would be in order.

It might be agood idea to post a few recent crash logs as well. Remember that without actually being there, it is quite difficult to diagnose an issue, so you would need to provide some info on your system and the logs..

There have been a few posts about issues since the last GU, but when compared to the amount of people in game that have no issues... it seems to be a small amount. Again, the more info that you can give, the better
