If the equipment is freezing and coming back fuzzy you may have an issue with the video subsystem in your computer. Would suggest tht you check to see thsat you have the latest drivers, open the side of the machine and clean it out with a can of compressed air.

You might also consider downloading the free copy of 3dmark and let it put your vidoe card through extensive hard use, if the card is causing a reboot because of overheat this will pinpoint it.

Are you're restarts just "soft" boots? Meaning you're just restarting the computer and not completely turning it off? If it is "soft" it is very likely there is still garbage information in you're video memory. This happens kinda often if directx crashes. Case Example: I went up to a coworkers desk to chat and they said they were haing issues and "x" program wasn't displaying anything even after restarting. I had then turn their computer completely off for at least 30 seconds and turn the computer back on (aka Cold boot) - everything was fine. Sometimes capacitors need time to discharge. Now what's causing the artifacts? Well that's the tricy part. Are you running another game before eq2? I know when I do a lot of devlopment work I have to give my computer a good cold-boot before starting eq2.
