I found I had crashes if I tried dual boxing when Shader 3.0 was turned on on both clients. Try logging in one client, turning off Shader 3.0, and then starting the other client. I never had problems running one with Shader 3.0 and one without (or both without), however I too experienced crashes when it was turned on on both. For reference, not using the streaming client, and have an ATI 5000 series video card.

A little more info...

Seems it ALWAYS gets stuck on : Connecting to Zone Server. Then without any error messages it returns to Character select. If i try to login again - as previously described - it will repeat this pattern of trying to connected and returning to character select without error messages etc.

I am having exact same issue. Connecting to Zone Server, then booted to Character Select Screen. Unable to load that toon until I restart EQ2.

Today was the first day that restarting EQ2 did not fix the problem. I had to restart the game twice.

Once this error has started, I can load up other toons, just not the stuck ones. But any other toon that I load will also become stuck if I try to zone into a new zone.

Even more info...

Been able to totally avoid the issue today by not zoneing my accounts at the same - or close to same - time.

Ie, i let one account finish zoning before zoning the other - which can be a pain with zonewide zoneins i tell ya!!!

That seems to eliminate the problem, so while its a work around its definately NOT a fix - considering zonewide zoneins etc. Is this another case of a file that acciedentially is getting locked during zoneing ? or something in that ballpark ?

I have this issue too.

I just came back to the game. Playing on a new pc, and its a newly downloaded game, as well as a new account.

Something tells me that its cache problem or a problem with some temp file that cannot be accessed for some reason, but its just a wild guess really.
