I haven't really played with Swashies much, correction, at ALL. My buddy has returned to EQ2 after many years of being away and he plays a swashbuckler. My guardian is 72, and he's finally up to lvl 70. Just last night he and I duo'd PoA and Vaults in Barren Sky and we outlasted at least 2 full high 60s groups. THAT made my day since they seemed to come romping through the zone pulling names right beside us as if they had more of a right to them than the 2 of us.

Anyway, that's not the issue here. My question is how do you more experienced swashbucklers do with power? The 2 of us were devastating last night, taking out Drakknair and the Essence of Narr with no trouble at all. At the end of the larger fights, as a guardian, I was down to about 20 - 40% power, where as my little swash buddy was still at like 80%, only rarely dropping below 70% power.

Is this normal? Are swashbucklers really so efficient that they don't run low on power? Is this something that will change as we gain a couple more levels? Like I said his DPS was certainly making an impact, so I don't really have any complaints..... yet. I have no problem calling my buddy out for holding back in a fight, but I just don't know how swashy mechanics operate.

Hell maybe my hp and power are just too low. HP is 8809 and pwr is 4914 unbuffed. Anyone have any input to help me out. Maybe if I could recommend a different Combat Ability sequence to him. That just seems like an awful waste of power.

Seems about right to me, however it's been a long time since I was 70. But tanks almost always run out of power long before I do.

Also theres a lot of factors that can be involved here, so with out knowing what your friend is doing it can be hard to pinpoint it. Here are some things to consider though.

Scouts usually have a larger power pool then tanks.

Only a handful of our single CAs use a chunk of power, have a long reuse, and many of those are AA CAs I doubt your friend has yet.

Our AoE CAs take a bit of power, but if you were only pulling singles most of the time and they were dieing fast then your friend may not be using them.

He might not be using his temp buffs. A lot of swashys who are still learning how to play don't really know what they are or are too lazy to use them.

He might be using mental breach poison which give him mana back every time it procs.

I believe taunts use a lot of power, so if you were using those regularly to keep agro off him then you're going to run out of power much faster then him. We have a buff called Swarthy Disorder that lets him transfer some of his agro to you which will help you hold the mobs and use taunts less. Make sure he has that on you.

Also make sure he's using debuffs if his agro is getting up there, they don't cost us much power at all and will help you with not using so much with taunts.

Thats all I can think of now.

Fighters just use a crapload more power than scouts. I have an 81 guard, and I can use 100% of my power on a few ^^^s in a group if I am not careful =( Find a good Illusionist or Coercer to complete your trifecta!

My old 80 Swashbuckler never ran out of power, even popping debuffs and CA's like mad. Usually a mob would be dead before power became an issue, but if it was a zone where the group was moving at breakneck speed, I'd switch to Mental Breach from Vitality Breach, and never run out of power. We've just got crazy-low power consumption. We're a "green" class.

I'm noticing this is also the case on this accounts newbie Swashbuckler, in crap gear at T4.
