Wizards, the new tanks at lower tiers? [Archive]

Wizards are definitely not doing too much damage, they are probably doing less than they should. However, with that said they are also mitigating more damage than tanks. Looks like to me that Wizz speced for full defensive, giving up some dps for more survivability.Amazing how this game allows us to do that. <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />Just be glad it was a 2min fight rather than a 2sec oneshot fight......

Sorc can get mitigation and wards through aa's and they always have been able to. Everyone got bumped up in mit with the new Character traits. They give up a whole aa tree of dps if they want to spec that way.Just like an SK can get more healing out of their AA's and can heal much more than a tank should be able to.

PAILL is right here on this post. I dont know paill but he seems to be right on for most things. 2 min fight is way better than the 2 seconds kill them before they know they are in pvp fight

To be honest with you, I would love to give up some defense for offense, but the problem is that in Tier 7, at least, if I am fighting some classes ( mainly tanks and healers), spells hit for very little. Therefore the only way for me to PvP is to become a tank so to say. And yes, your numbers do not lie, I am at roughly 56% physical mitigation, 61-67% magical resists, and avoidance at over 50% ( due to high Parry). Combine all that with about 6 wards, I can be tough to take down.

It is stupid, but their dps is terrible.Wizards should be the best single target spike dmg along with assassins, they are not even close to 1st more like 10th.

Before this insane mitigation increase they got, the good Sorcerors usually would win with a well time Manashield. Now they don't realistically need it.

This is definitely a 9, maybe even a 9.5.

wizards were never intended to particpate in combat, which is the only way I've been able to explain the complete lack of dps they now have. The proper way to roll play your wizard is to sit in the mage tower in nfp and disuss and ponder the many scrolls there with the other NPCs ... that's how you should be playing your wiz, not fighting people.

Woah woah. I didn't say all that. Before I specced into it, any random scrub could hit me twice and I'd roll over dead. I'm not invincible. But someone has to do more than just turn on their auto attack to do anything to me. Also, people rocking full sets of PVP gear are untouchable for me. Debuff, Temp up, and Ice Comet to the face for 2400 is pretty hardcore, amirite?It's not like I'm an SK!
