Returning at 54 with no AAs you're going to find yourself with a very tall hill to climb. Some might slap me for this but I'd say the best bet is to re-roll. You have 44 levels of quests, discoveries, named kills, etc. that today give AA experience, that you will not get AA for.

AA experience is given for discovering new areas, completing quests, completing collections, killing named for the first time, and discovering "valuable" loot for the first time.

Q2: Kingdom of Sky is accessed via any wizard portal. They drastically changed the travel system over the last 4 years (and again 2 weeks ago) to where it is stupidly easy to get anywhere. Find a wizard portal, click the swirly, and choose Tenebrous Tangle. 54 is a good level to start there.

Q3: They changed the stats around to where there's one "main" stat for each archetype. As a scout, AGI is your friend now. It affects damage, avoidance, pretty much everything. STR really means nothing to you now, other than your ability to carry more weight. STA still gives you hitpoints, of course, and WIS gives you a boost to spell resistances, but AGI should be your primary focus. You can ignore INT altogether.

Welcome back. I still think your best bet is to reroll. You'll be able to "learn" the game again since you've been gone so long, and you won't have 54 levels of uphill battle with getting your AAs up to a respectible level. These days it's rather easy to get back to 54 within a month of casual play.

Instead of rerolling, there is always the self mentoring option. Run to Gorowyn, hit up the chronomancer and commence to starting over without actually starting over. This will be easier since he is already geared up in T6 gear, not to mention that he'll be able to see new content that has been added.

Also, your gear sucks now even for a level 54. If you re-roll, I'd wager you'll be better geared by the time you hit 54. And maybe when you log in it'll all by heirloom and unattuned, which will mean you could pass it to the new toon.

All that said, I wouldn't reroll, I'm too sentimental. Best way to get AA is to set your AA slider to 50% or more. If you find someone to grind with in a dungeon, set it to 100%.

For benefit of the OP: They added "chronomages" that let you drop your level to anything down to level 5, in 5 level increments, for a few gold and some status points. Back in your day, you could "mentor" a lower level player to become their level. This is the same sort of thing except it takes the other player out of the equation. You basically mentor yourself to whatever level you want.

That said.. there is zero challenge to anything if you choose to do this. Chrono down to 20, for example, and you're the rough equivalent of a whole group of 20s, just by yourself. You can pretty much one-hit most mobs in that level range, and very very quickly kill heroics. It's basically playing in god mode, and it might be pretty [Removed for Content] boring to you if you're "going back" to level 5 to do newbie quests again to earn your AAs.

For that reason, I stick by my suggestion to re-roll. Stick your AA slider on 50% and don't look at it again, unless you find a buddy that you want to grind with as noted above, then stick it on 100% until you're ready to level again.

You may still end up chrono down occasionally to run a dungeon that you skipped (Fallen Gate, Varsoons, etc), but in those cases I usually chrono below the normal level for going there, so the mobs are all yellow/orange and present some sort of challenge.

Well, after playing for awhile, doing a bunch of quests with my slider way up, i decided to go with what was suggested and simply reroll.

truely a shame to lose all the progress i had, i remember sinking in tons of time on those items like the journeyman boots and flowing black silk sash, but at this point level 50 is barely over the half-way mark so im sure they suck pretty hard at this point, so im not too shaken up about =D

my new sin is already 20 so its all good. thanks for the input everyone!
