Okie. I bought a copy of the new expansion, sentinel's fate, on ebay, cause here in Australia, its very hard to get a copy of the game, and I wanted to get the collectors ed.

It gets here today, and I come home and open it, alls good, everythings inside.

I go to install it, and the first cd just keeps wanting to install it on the C drive (i moved it about a week ago to the K drive, cause thats my new massive drive for games etc, as c is getting smaller xD ) . It just has the modify, repair and remove options. Even the same when I take the cd out and put it in again.

So I was reading some posts, and some say skip some disks if you already have everything installed. So I pop in cd2. I get my antivirus (mcafee) screaming at me theres a trojan on the cd (Generic.dx!ssd) in D:EQII_Autorun.exe and that I must restart to get rid of it. Tried that once, didnt do anything, soon as I tried to run the cd2 again, it freaked out once more.

Whats going on?! >< I have every expansion up til SF installed, so I'm not sure whats wrong, and its kinda scaring me :S

If you have the game already installed, then you do not need the discs at all. Just register the key into your account at the top of these forums and let the patcher do the rest

It's probably a false positive but if you have everything up till SF already installed, you don't even need the disks. Just enter your SF key and let the patcher do the work.

But that means I'll have to download the whole thing doesnt it? I was trying to save that by getting the disks ^^;

+ Any idea on the trojan thing? :S I don't want anything like that on my system stealing my account info or some junk :S Scanning my system now too.

EDIT:

Also worried about using the key unless I have to send it back. What if I need to reinstall one day, will the first cd work properly? Or is it just saying those options cause theres no more the disk can install (since I've been playing lately)?

There is a good chance that you already have it installed on your PC, you just need the key to gain access to the areas

+ Any idea on the trojan thing? :S I don't want anything like that on my system stealing my account info or some junk :S Scanning my system now too.

It is probably a false positive.. some scanners will say that about certain things. I know on the original game, there wasn't one.... however, not sure about an ebay one... You never know what you can get from there *wink*

EDIT:

Also worried about using the key unless I have to send it back. But again, it is possible to install the whole game via download or an older expansion and let the Patcher do the updating.

I hope that this helps you a bit

Thankyou for replying It helps a bit ^^

When I entered the first disk, it was telling me, "modify", "repair" or "delete" as the options. When I hit modify, and went to next, it had 3 options to install, eq2 + desktop shortcut + quick menu thing. But when I clicked the tick on the EQ2 choice, it says 0mb to install on the C drive that had -insert free space here- avaliable. Which seemed odd :S I do still have the eq2 files on the c drive (I only copied it at first, incase the copy didnt work when I wanted it on a dif drive) but I renamed the folders to have _original after them, so that I'd know I had them there incase.

Could that be the reason the installer won't even give me an option? What if I wanted to do another install somewhere else, of the game? I don't want to be stuck with disks that don't work for that reason :S I understand I could just download it, but thats a lot to download from the last copy of the game I have on disk (The one before the last prev expansion, before SF, RoK?)

When it saw that you had it, it came up with those options. The patcher seems to patch everything that you PC does not have even if your account is not flagged for it. So you probably do not have much to update at all.

As for the discs, I can not guarantee that they will work since they were bought off Ebay. I am more concerned about the key then the discs. It is pretty simple to use a key and then resell the game without the buyer knowing that the key was already used...

Yeah :S Thats why I was worried.

Should I still try the key? The seller wasn't some random, they had a pretty good record, and I'm pretty sure I've bought from them a few years ago, and all was fine then (was an offline game tho). If I try the key and it does work, I can't send it back then (if the disks are stuffed).

The discs should be fione to be honest unless they were tampered with. You have bought the game already, so they probably will not take it back once it is opened anyways (for fear that the key is used up). There is basically no turning back.

However, if the DvD's have some issue, there is another way to install the game if you ever need to. Also, do you have a DvD drive on your PC?
