Me too. I've used the EQ2 launcher, station launcher, uninstalled, reinstalled. Run in administrator mode, compatibility mode, nothing seems to do the trick.

Could Windows 7 x64 be the culprit?

Same problem here - all was working fine yesterday morning (30th), tried logging on using Station Launcher yesterday evening and got that error message. If I use the LaunchPad.exe in the Everquest folder instead it patches and allowed me to log in but when logging to other accounts it tries to download 12gb again.

I completely removed Everquest 2, left it downloading a fresh installation overnight using the 'Get the Game->re-install' option from the website (which imo should specifically say it's the streaming client version, if i'd known that I wouldn't have even bothered) and had the same problems in the morning. Installed Station Launcher to see whether that'd behave any differently and still getting the problem confirming the size of eq2_default.ini.

Also frustrating is when running trying to launch Everquest 2 direct, I get an "Everquest II has detected an unrecoverable error and must shutdown. <verify> E:liveeq2frameworkrendersrcVeShader.cpp (10215): m_pPixelShader 00939880" error message. I haven't enabled Shader 3 or anything like that.. I believe this is something to do with the streaming client?

I'm just about to wipe HD, re-install Windows 7 x64, install from EQ2:RoK CD and then use Station Launcher to update again in the hopes that'll work but it's not really how I wanted to spend my Monday.. and more importantly I hate it when things don't make sense. I'd like to know why this happened completely out of the blue.

Completely fresh installation of Windows.. installed from EQ2:ROK CD's.. installed Station Launcher.. exact same problem. And to top it off, it's started happening on another computer that has worked perfectly before now.

Methinks somethings screwy at Sonys end.

Isnt this an OFFICIAL SOE TECHNICAL SUPPORT FORUM????

It has been months sense the first person posted this problem and still we have no responses from SOE?

What kind of support forum BS is this???????

I do not want to download this 10gig patch and it be for nothing AGAIN and constantly run into this problem. Ive tried everything and still the problem comes back telling me there is a problem confirming the size of the eq2_default.ini file...[Removed for Content]???

Station Launcher patched itself this morning to 1.1.9.922079 - and to my shock actually patched EQ2 fine (I figured I'd give it a go as I've been on holiday for a few weeks), I changed region to play on Runnyeye for a few hours and then tried changing back to US.. and the 'problem confirming the size of eq2_default.ini' popped up again.

I've not got the patience to sit and faff around with this - it's worked fine for the last year or so, it's now messing up after 2 fresh windows installations. Just gonna use the normal EQ2 Patcher instead.

Just resuscribed and bought the newest expansion to play the game again and this error is the first thing I get after downloading the starting launcher. Wish SoE would look into this or do something here. Paying 80 bucks to get back into the game only to be stonewalled by some random little error on a fresh reinstall is really not enjoyable.

I am having the same problem. The error, "There was a problem confirming the size of the file C:ProgramDataSony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest IIlp_tempUIDefaulteq2ui_mainhud_tutorial.xml" continues to pop up ever since the most recent patch went in. I have tried everything that was suggested here, even tried "repair" after reinstalling.

My other version of EQ2 works fine on my other PC with windows XP but on my new computer with windows 7 x64 it doesn't want to work now with this new patch.

Are there any fixes for this yet??

-Bittzee

Ok, so there is apparently a problem with the station launcher.

What worked for me was as follows:

1. Uninstall the game AND station launcher. (I know, I know.. just do it..)

2. Go to everquest2.com

3. Under the "Get The Game" menu, select "Download Game".

4. After it downloads, double click and start the launcher_setup.exe file

5. Log in, and in moments you will be able to play the game while it downloads in the background.

Hope this helps you all!

And thanks again to a special someone in Heritage of Oblivion on Lucan D'Lere for helping me with this problem!

-Bittzee

I get this error verbatim. I can run the old launcher from the eq2 file and be able to log in but the UI is strange and the map is broken. Why are there no tsr posts in here, do they just not give a crap? This is obviously a problem, acknowledge it for the love of god.

I have already reinstalled Windows 7, and uninstalled eq and reinstalled (along with the launcher) like Bittzee said, but I got nothing, same error.

Still working on resolving this by hanging out in these tech forums. Is there any way to run this game without having to got through this horrible dreadful, absolutley miserable station launcher???

UPDATE: I found a different launcher to download ( one with big green PLAY button to click) working so far..disregard my post

Seriously, because I posted a problem and no one has yet to answer that one either. I've had this issue and one other, and it seems that it takes ages to get a reply back, while my 14 day free trial is wasting away while I wait. Im having second thoughts on even spending the money for a subscription IF this problem ever gets solved.

I am having the exact same problem. But i will never ever reinstall the game again. I just did it 3 times. And the fix is unistall Station launcher and download a stand alone client? no ....

What worked for me was going into the everquest 2 folder and running the "eq2" executable instead of the "everquest2" executable which is the "old style" / original launcher. It got past the problem and I was able to get it to work.

Hope that helps someone else bypass the issue.

if you are getting the error such as the something to do with the "UI" settings;

go to station launche, Station

click preferences

go down to where it says "Eq2 trial or Eq2"

make sure all of the settings are clicked and checked.

Our support for Station Launcher is coming to an end. We do want to transition anyone still using it to our streaming LaunchPad for Everquest II

[EQII] LaunchPad
