Am trying to run the Launcher to update the game and every time it finishes up the last bit of info. this error pops up and it begins again, and the error pos up ever time it finishes.

Am running the new windows. I got this same error on my older comp as well, which runs XP. It just keeps looping over and over. Any ideas?

I also have been getting this error since this morning, although my computer uses Vista. I was able to log on last night, it was just this morning (and I'm guessing with the update) when the launcher started acting up. I'm not sure what to do, if I have to wait for something with the patch, or if there is some configuration I have to work out. If anyone figures this out, I'd love the advice. :D

I'm getting this same error message running Vista - 64bit. Hoping they push through another update soon.

That shouldn't be happening any more. On the Station Launcher, go to Help-->About Station Launcher and check the version. Are we all on 1.1.8?

EDIT: Does deleting that lp_temp folder from your EQ2 folder help out at all?

I'm still getting it on 1.1.8 and I renamed the lp_temp folder just for grins. Still doesn't work.

Launcher version was 1.1.8 when I got the error. Shortly after my earlier post, I selected the option to run the launcher as an Administrator (right click your icon) and it updated as normal (odd considering I have admin rights already). However, they could have pushed an updated version through at that time also so my little experiment could have been purely concidence. Anywhoooooo...now if I can just figure out why the game isn't closing properly (usual uninformative windows dialogue window popsup) when I logout/exit.

Just tried to log in EQ2 and got the same error. I am using 1.1.8.911127 release, running it as administrator, and deleted the lp_temp folder. None of it seems to be working. Had a simmilar problem with EQ last night but managed to load it from the original launcher (not the station launcher) and got it to work that way. However I can't seem to find the EQ2 original launcher so I'm trying all I can think of to get this to work.

I've had the same problem from the beginning on this comp. and have been. instead, using the Launchpad app. at "C:Program Files (x86)Sony Online EntertainmentInstalled GamesEverQuest IILauncher.exe" on my comp. It's an alternate option to log on. I never had any problems until the New Halas update. Now I simply can't see any of the Ry'Gorr orcs themselves (only the names, and have to run up and aggro one to target it) and I can't see the new "globe transporters" or some of the other new items. Although I DID log on through the patcher once since the New Halas update and it seemed to work. I could see the orcs...but I'm not sure why it worked that time.

I tried running the patcher as administrator (which I shouldn't have to force) through right-clicking and choosing the option, and get this message:

Kind of funny that it says to make sure I have permission to write to that location AFTER choosing to run as administrator...

And yes, I am running version 1.1.8.911127.

One thing I have learned from the passage of alpha builds of vista to the finaly production version ofwindows 7 is that the security on ..Program Files, it hidden partner and the variants on the 64 bit version of windows vista/7 is flakey to say the least (would say more but the mods would frown upon my language), sometimes it will perform flawlessly, but mostly it will just be a major PIA to get something to work all the time.

One of the best workarounds for that behavor was to not install any frequently updated application into that directory. I use a file structure for my online games such ad

d:games

d:gamessoe

d:gamessoestationL

d:gamessoeeq2

d:gamessoeswg

d:gamessoevg

d:gamesblizzardwow

d:gamescrypticsto

Through the various builds of vista beta and windows 7 beta this structure worked all the time, have not had a problem with file or permissions errors with it.

Nice thing about SOE games that outside of the full download station launcher none of the games really use registry entries, so you can build the directory structure on the drive of choice, unintall the launcher, install a fresh copy in the new location, set the language preferences, and directory preference, then copy the games from their old locations in the ..Program Files directory and launch. I do have launcher set to run as administrator but do NOT have any compatiblity settings on it - from reading over the the station launcher support forums the compatibility settings can cause issues with the launcher.

I use the same type of structure for some applications - like vpn clients, utilities. etc

Is there a way to download the update manually, or through the general patcher:

Also note it says it has 12.38 GB remaining to download, yet when I log in it doesn't seem to be downloading it. I'm assuming this is the missing data I need.

Ok, I just logged in after some time, and the orcs were there, and visible. As were the travel globes. So it seems to have sorted itself out. Whether it was something I did I can't say. But we'll have to see if it sticks.

I am also still having problems. In the EQ Launcher, it says Update instead of Play, and it says I need 939.3 KB, and I have 11.58 GB to download.

I have Windows 7, and I haven't had this problem until the patch this morning (6/03).

Apparently I have a problem moving the file, and the disk file is corrupt.

I've been using a different launcher than the Station Launcher. Is it the Launchpad one?? Anyway it seems to work fine. I just don't use the Launcher because of these issues.

I had this problem a few weeks ago. I uninstalled station launcher and reinstalled it. It corrected the problem for downloading and I was able to play the game.

Unfortunately it happened again with another update so I'll uninstall it again. Here's the link to download it. http://launcher.station.sony.com/

I don't think I'll be extending my membership because of this problem.

bmiller, this is a very small problem actually. I've been playing for quite some time, and I'd say personally that the game's well worth this minor hiccup. You should stick around or you'll miss out on a real great game.
