Since last week I have had an issue with the Everquest II Streaming patcher where it automatically updates to some patcher I have never seen before which does not even show EQ2 on the list of the available games for my account, just the three free games like Tanarus.

The only way I seem to be able to fix this is to instruct Steam to 'Verify my game cache' which results in a 1.6GB download. Once the download is complete I can run the correct patcher and play EQ2 but the streaming patcher will again patch itself to the other patcher and I have to repeat the process again the next time I want to play EQ2.

I have tried launching the patcher both through Steam and directly from the harddrive but the result is the same ... I can play once before the patcher breaks itself again.

I figure it is something wrong your end as the patcher seems to think it needs to update ...

How do I go about fixing this once and for all? It was working fine for months before last week ...

P.S. Do not mention the Station Launchpad as a fix because I dont want the extra clutter on my computer, especially as it doesn't function correctly with Windows UAC.

Some additional information, the patcher that the EQ2 Streaming patcher is updating to is 'Station Launchpad v1.75' ...

Another thing, the EQ2 files that are downloaded from Stream are MASSIVELY out of date, as the 1.6GB downloaded following a 'Verify game cache' is promptly replaced with almost 2GB of files from the streaming patcher.

You really should be doing a better job of keeping the files on Steam upto date.

Best bet is to install the full download launcher and let the entire game that your acount is authorized for download.

As far as Steam goes, why bother the game can change weekly, just open the account and get the proper launcher to handle the upgrade, recently released dvd's are not full updated either.

The streaming patcher and Steam were doing a fine job for months, until last week when the patcher started downloading some crappy old version of the 'Station Launcher'.

Anyway, 'Station Launcher' is just Sony's attempt at a Steam clone for their own games, except that it lacks a lot of the functionality and only supports Sony's games.

Sony chose to use Steam as a method of distributing the game, they should at least make the effort to do the job properly.
