View Full Version : A No Contest Battleground

I, like many others, play BGs on a fairly common basis. And I, like many others, have seen that there are three types of matches: a hard fought epic battle, where the match can go either way. Another is the semi-decent, one side put up a good fight, but it just wasn't meant to be, match.

But the last, and the topic for the post, is the complete stomping of the other team in which its obvious that one side is greatly dominating the match.

I believe, and back me up if you think this is true too, that sitting at your revive point because as soon as you leave you die, therefore you wait until the match to be over, is one of the biggest wastes of time. Thusly, I would like to see a "No Contest" feature added, where in once a point buffer has been passed (something like 350+ points in Klak, for example) between the teams, the other team can call a no contest, ending the match, and any future misery of it.

If you think its apropos, agree, if not, try not to slam it face first on the flamecore table of face palming.

The only issue is it makes it even easier for people who only care about zoning in to earn tokens to just give up or still go in with no intention to really be worthwhile, since instead of having to wait for 700 points to be scored, they can just wait til that margin is obtained and get right back in queue to go again.

Removing tokens for people claiming the no contest option would be one thing, but then they'd just afk at spawn for the entire match, so that wouldn't solve the basic issue anyways.

While I understand what you're saying, the basic fault with the system is that SOE is giving anything to the losing team. This would just make them quit faster. It won't solve the major problem of what I see with people who zone in, ridiculously undergeared, completely inept at playing their class, or even those who just zone in and run around mindlessly, cause they just want to snag a few tokens and AA for doing nothing.

EDIT: There are some matches where yes, a team is just ridiculously overmatched. There are those where if most of the people actually cared to try, they could pull off a win, but since they can still just get AA and tokens by losing, why bother, it's the matches that fit the 2nd set that bother me the most.

I would like to see people get pushed down from the spawn point in gears after ~5 seconds.

I have to disagree with your idea. While i can understand the frustration when being in a sucky grp (ive had that pleasure aswell) there are still quests that ask you for kills. If people could give up matches, it would take way longer to complete the kill quests and that would force people to NOT take the flag/gear and stuff like that.

No contest does make sence when 1 to 3 groups is all premade and just wipes every match for the whole nite. its no longer playing for tokens its playing to drag it out for everyone else so no one can catch up to them. they don't need more tokens they are playing to keep everyone else from getting them. its game of control. we even have threads begging to switch tokens around they have so many...

I doubt that is the answer you were looking for though.

To be honest, if you are that 'out matched' just keep throwing bodies on the fire. The faster they rack up kills, the faster the match will end.

Yeah, I don't know about that.....I've seen a vid of a team coming back from 694-2 to actually winning in klak. It was crazy to watch.
