(This is about the upcoming option to hide mounts locally.)

While you are mounted on a non-carpetish mount, you cannot jump while standing - the horse/warg just rears up. As far as I can remember the rear up animation once had been locally on the performing client only.

Now what about this situation:

Player A has casted his horse and has also disabled the display of mounts.

Player B has activated the display of mounts.

So A does not see himself sitting on a horse but B watches A sitting on a horse.

A stands right in front of an obstacle that cannot be walked over; it can only be overcome by jumping.

Now A jumps (right out of standing without a run-up) onto the obstacle by pressing his jump-key and shortly the forward-key.

For player B that jump-action of A should not be possible to see, since for B the horse of A is just rearing up and then moving a bit forward on a constant floor height.

But nevertheless A ends up on top of the obstacle, but from B's point of view A has not performed the "required" animations to get into that higher position. B just sees A rearing up and then suddenly on top of the obstacle... or what?

Does anybody understand/share my confusion?

These pictures should illustrate what I mean:

How A sees himself:

How A is seen by B:

I can remember the pogo horses. Carpets and disks are still pogo.

But that's not what this thread is concerned with

The whole being unable to jump straight up while on a mount is the #1 most annoying thing about mounts. I like the rear animation, but it should be linked to some other hotkey rather than the jump key. Having to get off my mount to navigate myself up stairs or a sharp slope of changing angles is quite annoying.

Now you will be able to jump directly up, and anyone who sees you on a mount will see you and the mount jumping pogo style.

The issue is STILL an issue for people who want to see mounts, but are unable to jump straight up because of it. I still believe that the jump command, and the rear up command should be separate hotkeys, so that anyone, regardless of their graphic settings and choice of seeing or not seeing mounts, will be able to jump straight up from a standing position.
