My wife and I are having the same problem on 3 computers for 3 accounts.

Ever since the patch, we login in and get to the screen where we can pick our char or Select Character and "PLAY". Basically, launchpad.exe is running, not everquest2.exe yet.

We hit PLAY and the game hangs at that point, and we never get to splash screens, login servers, etc.

I noted that everquest2.exe communicates with some servers at llnw.net. It does communicate for a little then SYN_SENTs get open then closed with no appearent connections. It then fails.

We are running Vista 32bit, Vista 64bit and XP SP3. We've been launching our programs the same way for years.

Running from the folder directly in different modes to no avail.

Any ideas?

Cancel your subscription. It's what I'm about to do. This is a stupid problem. If they worried about making a solid product instead of putting mounts on the marketplace we wouldn't have this problem.

Husband and I are having the same problem. After hitting the play button, Everquest2.exe is running in the Task Manager, but the game never pops up. We even tried switching to the Streamline Launch Pad, as everyone in my guild that has the streamline did not have a problem, but it didn't work, we still have the same issue.

We use Windows 7.

Update with more information:

2 PCs, both are using W7 64bit, got more than enough free ram and hdd space, both use station launcher.

If launched through the station launcher or by directly opening EverQuest2.exe the game will open as a process only, and then ends up stuck at 0% CPU and ~30 MB memory used. The games will never open a window, an error message or even shut down, they end up stuck at that state forever.

What we tried:

- Turned off firewall, virus scanner, background programs

- Deleted and redownloaded EverQuest2.exe

- Ran Station Launcher and EverQuest2.exe as Administrator, in Vista and XP compatibility modes

- Deleting ALL xml, dll and cache files

- Prayed to the gods of MMO-addiction

Nothing helped. And it seems I'm not the only one, any ideas?

Same exact thing happens to me.

I posted this on another thread, but figured I'd add most of it here because another person reported trying to connect to the llnw.net website.

Ok, here are mine and my husbands observations of what is happening as my game tries to launch.

After I click the "Play/Launch Game" button the launcher window disappears and the EQ2game process starts up, but never fully launches. Going through my Norton connection logs, we have discovered that my computer is trying to send a http request to a certain IP from my everquest patcher, it sends about 17 requests per second until the process is forced to stop through task manager. Although the IP it tries to get the http request from changes, it's still the same website. llnw.net

Here are some lines from my connections log:

So this is what it's doing instead of connecting to a SOE website and launching my game from what we can tell. (sorry but I blured out my IP address and computer name)

We checked our DNS servers to make sure they were current and correct and still doing the same thing. Each new connection is a different IP, but still ends up belonging to the same website. It continues to spam them with requests until the process is stoped. We also made sure the firewall wasnt blocking anything and that everything that is supposed to is run as an admin.

I'm running windows vista ultimate 64 bit with 1 TB of data available on my hard drives and 8 gb of ram.

It was working fine prior to todays patch, except the launcher character selection box has been gone ever since AB went down earlier this week. Nothing I could think of would get that box back so I could select a character even if I had logged in and out previously just fine.

Any help or guidance on this is very much appreciated.

we made sure that everything that was supposed to be running as admin was running as admin, we checked the firewall settings, removed the always allow, and readded them as always allow. Even reinstalled the Launcher, and nothing has helped. My game worked fine on the 19th.

LLNW seems to be Limelight Networks, a content provider that streams stuff like NBC, CNN or Obama's inauguration... I would have expected this to be used on the streamed client rather than the station launcher one... Maybe when they fixed the streamed one yesterday they screwd ours up...

Some traffic being sent by everquest2.exe to llnw site.

Tried loading via Station Launcher, Launcher, and EQ2.exe...same results. No firewall, no antivirus. Thanks for who ever discovered this but not much thanks to the SOE support, you would think something that has this many hits on a forum page would have been touched at least once. I have been dealing with this problem on test for about a month now and no one mentioned the supposed issue on any forum i was looking on for assistance. I was worried that the problem would move to the live side and now it has. I guess we will just have to deal with it for the moment until that ini file gets resolved. Thanks again for the player assistance. sigh i was so annoyed about dealing with this log in issue, once i got in i logged out again in disgust caused by trying to log in.

Since today's update, my EQ".exe file has become non executable. I recently upgraded to win7 and have been running EQ2 fine for the last week on it. I was on this morning, and logged out for the update. I have since, been trying to get back on through the launcher, sinec I stream everything now. But, it scans and updates, then tells me, the game will continue to update, whilst playing. But the green button, remains with an "update" option only, and no play. When you click on the update, it tells me I have 4.8mb needed for update, but it does not update any further. I went into my EQ2 directory, to find the EQ2 appliaction file, was no longer able to execute. Any suggestions. Since this only happened today, since the update.

How can I get the Station Launcher so I can try this fix? I'm using the streaming client which comes with LaunchPad.exe, which I am already beginning to loathe. As soon as I interact with it (whether to click "play" or "options" or anything else) it becomes unresponsive and the process just hangs around as a zombie that I can't even kill.

is there like an alternate portal to download EQ2 from instead of this pointless/useless streaming client? since EQ released it its caused nothing but problems and lost accounts... why not take care of this first and keep your subscribers so more people can play then get into fixing the new zones and server problems? FFS make an intern do it if yall are to lazy.

I fixed my problem the following way. Not 100% sure which of the methods worked, as I did a restart of my system, only after making changes to everything.

1) I went into the EQ2.Exe file and made sure it was set on Administrative. (Which it already was)

2) I then went into the properties of the EQ2 Launcher, and set this on administrative, (Which it didn't seem to be)

3) I opened up the relevent trigger ports, as mentioned in earlier problems. Just to ensure a thorough sweep had been done.

4) Rebooted the whole thing and my EQ2.exe file became executable once more.

So everything is running as normal again.

It seems there are different problems people are having, but this was mine and worked for me. Good luck.
