Same here. Worked earlier, saw that the Runnyeye server was down and logged out.

Since then I can login fine in the launcher, but it comes straight up with the EULA window and then Download. Clicking the download button would revert back to the EULA screen again and so on.

I did notice however when I went into options my game folder button had a greyed out "OPEN" even though the data is physically there.

I even thought the launcher was botched, so tried downloading and installing the Station Launcher. And even after telling that in game preferences when my installation of EQ2 was, it still tried to redownload the whole 10gig of data.

And im using Windows XP SP3 from start to finish.

Greetings,

It seems this is an issue with the streaming launcher at the moment. We have contacted the appropriate people to get it corrected and I'll post an update as soon as I have more information. In the meantime it is possible to work around the problem by using the station launcher to download, but that will download all of the files over again so it may not be the most appealing option. Hopefully we'll have this corrected shortly.

My launcher seems to be on and off working. I'm trying on a computer that does not have eq2 already as well and sometimes it can get past the EULA and will allow me to play... but... won't download any files until I get in game (usually it starts when you just leave the launcher up / downloads quicker that way too).

I will let it just run and hope to get in the game, I wish there was a way I could load the game another way but I bought it through Stream so I guess this buggy streaming client is all I got. Wish they would fix it, seems like there is a problem every other week...

Please keep in mind that this is just an issue with the streaming launcher at the moment. The station launcher should still be functional. It uses a different file structure, though, so it will require a redownload of the game. If you have an event you want to access in game or don't want to wait for a fix then that's probably your best bet at the moment. The following link contains the station launcher program if you want to use that for now:

http://launcher.station.sony.com/

I don't understand why I have to install the game 3 times to be able to log in because SOE can't fix the problem. Why don't b oth launchers point to the same folder when checking files? Why are there so many different "copies" of the game and file structure? I am upset right now... I just redid my subscription after being gone for a year and I am regretting it because I can't play... How nice to see some things never change. I get told it is because I am running Windows 7... well guess what if my running the current OS is an issue then maybe I don't want to play this game. This is the same ole rant everyone else does whenever something goes wrong but guess what... it's a valid rant. Do we at the VERY LEAST get an ETA on when the issue will be fixed? Because quite honestly I don't think "We sent it to the right people to fix it and I will update as I have information available" is really unacceptable.

This is absurd, I am not downloading the game. I waited a few hours for them to fix a god [Removed for Content] launcher and it is still down. ROLL IT BACK TO THE VERSION FROM LAST NIGHT.

Over and over again there are problems with launching the game. This is absurdly aweful support. You guys have had a full shift today to fix this one problem. What kind of company is SOE?

MarcosTheMad

Grrr. I installed the Station Launcher to get up and running. It is 10 GB of data to download, and it is going to take all freaking night!

I am so freaking angry at SOE right now.

If, after all this, my UI setup is messed up by you guys again, I am going to freak out.

Wow, I need a drink. ~grin~

Really, tho, I am disappointed that I could not come home from a hard day at work and relax by killing some q's.

TSR-DanielH

If you download the game through the station launcher then you can transfer your UI/settings to the new install folder by moving the following files into it:

eq2_recent.inieq2_default.iniEverQuest2.exeeq2.ini As well as the character specific files, these will appear as such:Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.iniSt ationname_characters.ini

Those files contains all the UI settings so copying them over will let you avoid setting your UI up from scratch.

Sadly, I still don't have an update regarding the problems with the streaming launcher. I will immediately post any information I receive to keep everyone updated about this issue.

MarcosTheMad
05-18-2010, 07:36 PM

Daniel, I appreciate that there is a work around solution, and that my UI should be ok. However, I paid to play, and that will not be happening for some time. And this is not the first time actions of SOE have kept me from enjoying the game.

I will have to wait hours for the installation process to complete. While that does not seem important to SOE, it is important to me, and to others who have in good faith paid for this service.

Oh well.

Following up on my post on the first page. I am still getting the issue and am using Windows XP

However I have found a way which doesnt involve compatibility modes or the use of the Station Launcher (I had installed it as mentioned in my first post, but was unwilling to install the whole game again)

Basically when the launcher loads up and you enter your details, the TOC will pop up, you accept and it goes to download. Instead what I did was go to options and tell my region to go to US English (im using EU English to play) and then click download. All small update will happen and then you can go back to options, alter Region back to EU English and the game will allow you to play.

I dont know if this can be done in reverse (so US players can change region to EU and then back again) but since I tried this method I am able to at least play.

Cant say im happy with this work around since Tuesday there was no trouble at all and I am STILL getting the issue although Tech has said its been fixed.
