Whenever I click the alternate appearance button at the character select screen my game locks up, is this supposed to happen for trial accounts?

The only way out of this is to quit the process.

Thanks for the reply Crickett, I updated my install today. There was only 2 updates for my system as I keep it pretty much up to date anyway and I already have the latest driver, it still crashes

The Alternate Appearance button switches people to the SOGA character appearance mode that was introduced in the 1st expansion. Almost no one uses that viewing system. In fact, your standard appearance doesn't even translate to SOGA. A person has to intentionally set up a SOGA mode as well. Otherwise if someone viewed my normal looking half-elf in SOGA, then she might look like some kind of hairless woman with scars and has some kind of weird gray / olive green skin tone.

Newer races that were added after the fact don't have a SOGA appearance. Thankfully. It does offend some people that their carefully crafted character appearance can be totally violated by other players who view the world in SOGA mode. Yet it is what it is. I can't control it if people view me in SOGA and I'm not going to take the time to set an alternate SOGA appearance that still doesn't look like my real character appearance.

As to why you're crashing? No clue. It may be a Trial issue. I'd kind of bet on that. But I really can't say for sure.

I prefer the original setting for some of my characters so I bounce back and forth depending on who I am with and what I am doing and if I am taking a screenshot or not

I won't comment on the quality of either set of models, that has been done to death elsewhere.

However, perhaps you should do a complete scan of your EQ2 install (on the normal launch pad there is a button to click to bring up preferences where you can select a complete file scan). SOGA models were included as an optional download so if that isn't checked it might not have downloaded.

If you are using the streaming client or the station launcher I can't recall if or how you might do the complete scan =(.

I'm using the launcher and I can't find any options to do a file check so it's best I just don't click it eh lol. Thanks.

You may want to post this in the Tech support forums to be honest. I will move it there for now. Perhaps posting more info such as a dxdiag would help though....
