If it's been stated once, it's been stated a thousand times by us necros (as well as other classes) that the current state of the dumbfires is "broke". There are only two real options that can be done about them, either turn them into a nice debuff or make them AOE immune. They drop like flies in any raid scenario, and in a group instance 90% of the mobs die within 15-20 seconds so they aren't worth casting. At least if they were AOE immune then for the longer fights they would be worth casting. I have never ONCE in all the begging and pleading to fix our dumbfires seen a dev chime in, even if it's not to support, but to argue the issue. However, if you stroll on over to our sisters forum, they are getting plenty of dev feedback on how their freaking appearance of what their tank pet should look like... blue, red, purple, "what do ya'll prefer", etc. I support the change in appearance for their pet (it was a sick joke to use that tree stump model in the first place), but if a dev has time to give that amount of feedback for “fluff”, then they should have a few minutes to address this longstanding issue. I have sat by patiently since there was news they were going to fix our dumbfires during fanfaire last year, but I’m tired of waiting. Seriously can't we at least have a bone thrown our way to know what, if anything, is in the works for our dumbfires?

Maybe the people you raid with are smarter but in my little world it's all about the parse, you parse high you get to go again, you parse low; go home. Those dumbfire pets do not get added under your name. they get their own, so the time spent casting them is lost DPS. It could be very few raiders even use them after the first couple of raids and that would knock these pets down on the priority list via low popularity.

@Nanran: You are wrong. While the dumbfires appear on the parse under their own name, they all get 0 DPS and their actualy DPS is added to your own parse. @devs or whoever reads this: However, dumbfires are not only useless because of the AEs. Potency, crit chance, crit bonus and ability modifier do not affect their damage output. At current state, if I cast the dumbfire pets on a training dummy and let them do their whole damage their damage/cast time is still lower than any other skill. The only exception is undead horde which - despite all this - can be used on mobs that do not do any AE, but which is still useless for any named fights because of no AE immunity. And that state is unacceptable. All other classes that have big hitting spells with long cooldowns (like undead horde was supposed to be) can improve the damage output of those spells with potency, crit bonus and ability modifier. So why on earth do we have to get another disadvantage???

Devs - Unlike Planeshift, Undead Tide is almost useless against any raid mob in the past two xpacs because all named raid mobs have AOEs that wipe them. It would be wonderful if you could make UT AOE immune, and bring this ability up to snuff with our elemental brethren. Thanks.

I made a post asking this same question in the mage General Discussion section. Please post some replies there so that we can draw more attention to this issue since it effects most if not all mage classes.
