I recently leveled my Fury to 75 and am at the point where I have to decide if I should invest in her or betray. Pretty much everything I've read or heard is negative about the class and I've never even had a Fury single heal a group on my other characters. I will not be raiding on her at any point so the best gear I'd be getting is legendary mark gear and SF zone drops. I have no problem working for gear and AA, and learning the class nor do I mind more complicated classes. But what it comes down to for me is this: can a Fury solo heal SF zones as successfully as a Warden in legendary gear without the perfect (read: coercer/illy) group? Would I be stuck healing Conservatory or could I handle Labs? What about the easy Vigilant?

I already have a 90 Ranger sitting on the shelf, I'd rather not do that to this character too.

witout a perfect group, you ll lack on mana, its the only thing that will give you problem next to a warden to solo heal a zone

but for all others stuff, stop thinking that fury cant solo heal.... yeah bad fury who dont try to learn the class cant solo heal, but on all extention before, even when i was not raiding, when i joined a group asking me : can you solo heal ???

It always made me laugh, and omg yes i can solo heal...

for mana, you have several option, tinkering manastone, potion, guild item, root, some legendary stuff etc etc...

as raider, i have solo heal all the heroic zone, and all the raid zone, hard mode or not

You can actually get pretty great gear outside of raid now, run battlegrounds (if you can stomach it) and get the chest, pants and head pieces at least (will take about 3 days of grinding). Then run some heoric stuff and get the mark shoulders and a nice potency necklace (off the queen in cella or faction in hole) and you will be nearly as geared as a T1 raider. BG's has a couple of nice overloaded heal items and after the GU may 25th you can farm tokens on lower level toons for your Fury's gear.

"But what it comes down to for me is this: can a Fury solo heal SF zones as successfully as a Warden in legendary gear without the perfect (read: coercer/illy) group? Both druids can solo heal most heroic content from what i hear but the reality behind that is the group make up and players often means as much to the success as the healer does. Druids are not templars or mystics who can solo heal scouts tanking guk in TSO (have witnessed that) or conpensate for tomfoolery or idiot players in the group. If your in a hard zone like Vig 3 or Cella (not that cella should be hard but it can be with the wrong people) your going to want to have a group that is 5 for 5 with a chanter and most likely a bard to and people who know [Removed for Content] is going on. =) I'm just saying, your asking if your going to be able to solo heal on a fury in a med/hard zone without a proper group setup and your already inviting fail (regardless of which druid you play). I have ran many many PUG's and my favorite saying goes "we cannot change the course of the wind but we can direct our sails." If you want to be able to solo heal a bunch of scrubs who will run a group with a tank and 4 scouts then you may want a warden, in all honesty. If you want to spend a few weeks farming the right gear and getting your AA's up and are willing to put together the right group make up... Fury's and wardens have very similar healing potential.

Thank you for the replies, that's exactly what I was looking for. I still will have to think about it, as unfortunately, good PUG's are often hard to find/form lately. As I said, I'm totally willing to work for AA and non-raid gear and planned on grinding some BGs.

And thanks for reminding me about the tinkering items! I completely forgot about those. I really wish there was a lvl 90 version of the manastone HQ as 150pwr isn't really cutting it anymore hehe.

My guild's fury solo heals most zones we've done in SF so far with little to no problems. She has worked for her gear and AAs (not just having them but getting them set up in an ideal way), and she can solo heal without the perfect group. We've done Cella (a pain when people don't listen) with less than ideal set ups and she's been able to solo heal it so you shouldn't have problems as long as you're willing to work for it.

The Furies do have it tough these days...but it doesn't phase me. Keep in mind that although we try and without too much difficulty "can" solo-heal zones (which all of us love to do; I think I can speak for us Furies)...solo-healing is really not the ideal situation for Furies. Alot of times when people are forming groups and they have a Fury with spots open...they ask theirselves, "Do I really want to take up another spot in the group for another healer and cut our DPS numbers down?" That is very true...and I am with you on that one as well...however, as ironic as it sounds that is actually a great setup. Furies are more a utility class than a healer. Yes I do solo heal zones and can do it well. I play about 3-4 nights a week..raid on 2 on those nights and have 243 AA currently. Really I love a group where a plate/chain healer is in the group so I can DPS and spot heal when necessary...which would be on a "named" fight. I have made it a habit since RoK..to always throw together the perfect mix for a group...because lets face it...I am not spending 2-3 hours to run a zone when it would take 30-45 mins with the right group makeup. Tank, bard, chanter, chain/plate healer, me (Fury), and a DPS class of any kind. Its much easier to keep a group alive with this setup and still be able to maintain a good DPS amount overall than to struggle with a Fury and have to be rezzing people or the group wiping multiple times. Its a night and day difference. Now I am not the best Fury on the server but I am a very confident Fury and can hold my own. I love my toon. I can parse pretty well too on the DPS side. Here is proof.

Been gone for a bit now (moved and now have no normal access to non-crappy internet) but even only half geared in BG gear, a fabled drop or two from instances, bout 7 or 8 masters and some legendary instance gear I was having no problem healing anything as long as the tank wasn't wearing toilet paper. Solo healed Cella with just a trouby along for power, (they feed as well or better than a crappy chanter anyways). So power isn't really that big an issue if you get a few power items. I don't even tinker because crafting is the devil...Far as parses were concerned, my highest zonewide was around 15k in a library run...Hell I tanked half the zone cause the tank was a scrub. Think my highest parse on a real fight was in the 31k range (not on my comp or I'd dig up a full parse...public library ftw). There's a lot we can do in almost any situation (kinda sad to hear spell damage got nerfed in BGs...liked hitting people for upwards of 8-10k running around unbuffed by anyone lol) so I personally wouldn't ever recommend betraying to warden...Unless things have changed since I left there was just as much whining over in the warden forums about how they sucked as there is in this one. Happy hunting to my die-hard fellow furies.

I've solo healed everything except Vigilant 3, Spirit's Resonance and the Palace with my Fury (Just haven't had the opportunity to try yet). I'm using a collection of SF Legendary, I have the BG Hat, and a couple of raid pieces from LoTDQ and Labs raid instance.

Healing with a Fury really isn't as difficult as folks make it out to be. I NEVER run out of power unless I go overboard DPSing and that's what Karana's blessing and signets are for!

Awesome, I've decided to stick it out. If nothing else, it goes along with my competitve side. I'll already be the first Fury I know who didn't betray to Warden at 90... haha.

Thanks again for your responses

My original "main" was a templar and while I enjoyed playing that class, once I got her to 90 and started lvl'ing up my fury I quickly decided to put the temp in retirement and make the fury my new "main". I really enjoy playing my fury and I usually solo-heal the guild groups I'm in with a few exceptions. (I haven't done any of the really hard zones yet though) When I do raid, I'm usually the solo-healer in the caster group though I usually have some kind of power regen in the group.

My gear is all legendary with the exception of a couple of fable pieces and MC pants (until I can get soemthing better) and for extra power I rely on my manastone, power potions, signets, Karana blessing and hearts and shards (if available). I also use a lot of bamboo totems for an extra boost of out-of-combat power regen. It can sometimes be a challange to manage the use of power, but it is without a doubt, totally do-able to solo heal SF zones with a fury.

My fury is an alt, I have legendary level 90 gear on all but 2 of my slots, the other 2 being a 90 fabled wrist i was lucky to win, and the T4 level 80 forearms ( which I am trying desperatly to upgrade atm ).

I stopped playing my alt for a long time untill SF was released, and when I got around to leveling her to 90, and messing about with the new aa's, I was delighted to discover that Furies had finally become a viable solo healer for instance groups finally. To date I have solo healed all SF instances except Palace and vigi 2 and 3. I even managed to out heal the curse on 2 of my group members during one of the resercher fights in RH when my cure curse was down.

Imo, stick with your fury, learn how their different heals work and when to use them and you will get a lot fun out of what was once considered to be the last resort for a group healer.. Furys are definatly starting to get the respect they always deserved.

Whats even better tho, is when you are solo healing a group, dps'ing at the same time, someone parses and theres 2 or 3 people below you on the dps meter ..

When you get geared up, youll laugh at the other healers who struggle on encounters. When I run instances I toss Hibernation and DPS away. I dont bother using other heals except for maybe Autumns Kiss to compensate for the low procs at times for Stormcallers Renewal. Ive solo healed every instance and raid zone (working on HM now).

Fury is a very nice class once you realize its potential and how to use it to the fullest. I put PUG groups to shame when I am on top of the parse above others heh.

Take gear / aa's / player ability out of the equation and there is nothing a warden can heal better than a fury. They are on par for the healing side where as (I find) furies can excel on the dps side.

As an update, my Fury is now 89, she's locked there until I hit around 200AA. I am so glad I didn't switch her, the class is a blast! Even the mana issue hasn't been so bad, at most I burn as much as the tank, and if I have mana regen I just go nuts haha.
