Look, the whole idea of keeping everything seperate for the PvP servers is lame. however, with the introduction of BG's its obvious that the gear advantage the PvPrs had would bleed over to PvE.

This problem is easily solved.

First lets clarify how many types of gear we have. that number is 3. they are as follows.

PvE gear

PvP gear

BG gear.

the problem is that currently BG and PvP gear Are identical thus creating problems for the PvP server.

Simple changes can make things more favorable for the PvP servers while keeping the fairness in BGs equal and the bleedoff into PvE servers minimal.

basically this requires an upgrade to the PvP gear in the way of crit mit and PvE buffs that are equal too that of the raid gear, as we have strived for and gotten but lost just recently.

this does a couple of things.

First it makes PvP gear and the required fighting of Open world PvP preferable in gearing up on the PvP servers. since the gear will be useable in instances and even raiding it will be the prefered method of gearing up for PvP players.

Secondly it will unaffect the BG scene. as the buffs like +potency and crit mit will either already be the same( as in potency) or unuseable( crit mit) in BG the net affect of a PvPr in PvP gear in a BG scenario with PvE players sporting BG gear will be a wash. all things in PvP and BG will be the same. the extra use of potency for PvE will be useless in a BG scenario and only help in openworld and PvE on PvP servers. thus there will be NO inequality on the BGs between PvE servers and PvP.

increasing the adornments to include the red or class specific buffs.

this should be implemented as well. this should be on BOTH sets of PvP gear and BG gear. this will add another layer in the strats available to players as they fight, whether it be open world or BGs. again, this elevates the PvP gear to equal or come close to the strength of the PvE Raid gear. Currently top raiders are admitting to using Raid gear in Battle grounds because its hard to argue with such large amounts of damage output compared to a small gain of survivability. many can simply add BG jewelry to thier arsenal and forgo the inclusing of BG armor.

To be continued after mothers day dinner with the mom....

The problem is that crit mit will never again be enough for PvP defense. It worked well in T8 because in T8 we didn't have crit multipliers over 2 (at least most of us didn't) so with around 70% crit mit you were able to remove all the critical hits from PvP. However now that we stack potency and crit bonus, when toughness is removed the incoming melee damage becomes way out of whack. It is somewhat ok for plate wearers because they can mitigate over 70% of incoming damage, but cloth wearers would go down with a single blow even with 100% crit mit. Magic damage wouldn't be much of a problem as most everyone have over 70% mitigation against all types of magic damage, but melee damage would be a problem. Another thing I never liked about crit mit is that it completely removed critical hits from PvP, so all the +crit chance we had on our gear was completely useless in PvP.
