Hello EQ2 community,

I recently reactivated my account after several years gone. I bought the game at release and was horribly disapointed, since I've been back the game has proven to be an awsome experience.

Anyway on to the meat:

I started playing a conjuror, I knew most of my play time would be solo but I also wanted a little utility later in the game as well.

In the beginning I was using my earth pet, then the mage pet, and when the scout pet showed up I took the time to check the forums to see what the over all concensus was. Turns out the vast majority of folks said earth or mage, but there was no real reason to not use the scout. Being a player that prefers a road less traveled I opted to try the scout on for size.

I'm level 56 now with 77 AA's and the scout pet, to me, is simply awsome. I never have agro (okay that's an exaggeration, if I light off an AoE first thing I'll get some agro), he takes a beating, deals out pretty good dps, and is group friendly. Throw in blazing avatar, blink him to a ^ herioc mob a level higher then me and the mob drops in seconds with the pet only lightly scuffed. This is not ment to impress, it's meant to illustrate the scout can survive and survive quite well.

I had a mirror made and I've tried the earth pet tank build. I lost tons of dps and the over all solo aspect slowed WAY down. To compound the issue he was only marginally better at taking a beating then my scout (with 70 AA's). I tried the mage pet build also and found that he could generally hold group agro better, did really good dps, but he couldn't take a hit, couple that together and I had a dead mage were my scout would survive.

I'm not saying the scout is for everyone, I can totally see were a mage pet would excel in raids, I'm just saying the scout isn't all that bad. Infact, I thinks he's pretty gosh darn good.

And that's my 2cp.
