Returning player here. I was really excited to hear about BGs. Even more so when I saw the item/weapon rewards for token turn ins this week. My bubble burst when I saw that the items had effects for pvp only (((

Do I understand this right? The amount of time sink its going to take to get outfitted and the items loose a good bit of their potency when I go back to PVE (which is what this game really is about on non pvp servers). I was hoping BG gear would be just a tad below Raid gear. Is there no "pve" set we can buy with useful effects even if they are toned down a little?

Thanks

I suggest reading the descriptions carefully.

Oh no... imagine the concept!

They should have restricted BG gear more by not allowing any of it to work outside of PvP but I am glad they are starting to make certain things PvP only.

If you want PvE gear then run instances and but it with marks.....if you want PvP gear then run BG's for tokens.

IMO, SoE should have never added BG's...all I see is nerf this and nerf that posts all over the place now because of them.

From a PvE perspective, there are only a handful of PvP items which are bad for you. For +Potency, the Shoulder armor and Neck pieces are junk. The same goes for the +Mitigation / +Resist jewelry pieces. All of these items have their primary functions based on abilities which are PvP only.

Otherwise everything else is good. That's a lot of potential gear pieces! The jewelry pieces are very strong for a newly 90th character. Even though you won't be able to access to +3% PvP Potency on those pieces, that ability on those pieces is just gravy. Also since Heroic PvE content doesn't crit anymore, or has a max of a 10% crit chance, the PvP armor pieces are great for Heroic use. Though PvP armor choices wouldn't be able to use Yellow adornments, their +Resists are about twice that of the T2 Mark Heroic armor pieces.

As you start to get raid gear pieces, you'll slowly switch out your PvP gear pieces for PvE gear pieces. But to get yourself started, the PvP gear is great. Especially the jewelry since you can use it while still wearing your old +Critical Mitigation armor. The only real flaw of the jewelry is that they lack +Resists (from a PvE perspective).

As a scout using bg armour in pve zones is quiet handy due to the +resists cause I use to have just the t8 gear and was getting killed quiet regularly, but I wouldn't recommend them as a tank due to not having crit mit, if ur a class that stands away from the mobs and not getting beat on it seems ok .
