Check the link out here! Lots of new stuff it seems heading our way. Don't want to say too much to keep from spoilers but looks like we will have plenty to ponder over the next few months. Halas, of course, but also more on the Hole and the Icy Keep and their ties to the Planes. Also the prelude to Expansion 7 with the rebuilding of the druid rings! Visually it all looks stunning and I can't wait till May 25!

The Maidens kept their promise until a Frostfoot slave managed to escape.
Long ago and far away I seem to recall a character from The Dragon Magazine called Snarf (mid to late 70's I think).

There must be some members of the design team that cut their teeth on D&D (Stone of the Gygax, Snarfquest, et al)

Unfortunately they failed to recognize E'ci as a member of the Triumvirate of Water (along with Povar and Tarew Marr). That makes her an elemental god, and much more powerful than a demi-god. I'm surprised that the author of the press release didn't know it.

I find it less surprising that a Dev doesnt know EQ lore and more that the next xpac is going to start with rebuilding the Druid Rings (Thank god too! Sucks my Druid has crappy ports compard to wizards now).

Anyways interesting.

Are they going to introduce a new portal to Enchanted Lands so its a bit more like Mistly Thicket was? What about the druid evac for Jasarath Wastes?

I'm more currious about the lore behind the reclimation. Who is behind it? Druids from Darklight Woods or an actual diety? If a diety, is it the diety that created and is responsable for the functioning of the druid rings? A lot of questions could be answered...or glossed over again. Or worse, inappropriately answered leading to (more) internal conflicts in EQ2 Lore.

the iceberg that New Halas is built on is a chunk of Velious severed off during the shattering...which trapped a coldain hunting aprty and a force of Ry'gorr orcs on it.

as to the druid rings being repowered/rebuilt...I imagine this is more a druidic endeavor then a deity involvement. after all the lore we got about th espires reactivating hinted that Sol Ro powered them back up....but he wasn't involved in powering or building the ulterean ones we added later.

My guess will be that will all the returning gods and the flux of divine/arcane power stemming from them, the druids themselves will be instructing us on the upkeep/restoration of the druid rings. the things they probably used to do all the time before the gods went on hiatus for a bit.

Though maybe, considering the druid ring in the wakening lands...tunare might have a hand in it. you knwo it might be something from the Dartain line. the last part has you go to Tunare's prophet with a note from Dartain. she acts rather concerned about it's contents and states she has to go and she doesn't go into detail.

maybe the note is about events with Kera/Lucan/Theer and her task is to ask Tunare for heklp to empower the druid rings to travel to the place most obvious to become Kera's stronghold - Velious.

With Tunare's returning, they became active. We were not given a reason as to why they ALL didn't go live when the first ones did though. Apparently, they were destroyed or damaged, and now need to be restored.

Everyone gets to be the person that just happened to be in rare_situation_01. So it's not that the Rygorr would be stopping every ship, but rather that they happened to stop your ship. Otherwise you'd just be a miscellanious, unnamed and unseen NPC on a ship that happened to make the journey normally.

Regarding the OP... I can't wait for the druid rings to be rebuilt. It's something I've wanted since... well since launch when we saw the non-functioning and mostly-destroyed druid rings, hehe.
