Remember when...

Your group was halfway into SoS and you noticed the mobs ahead of you were down and then you encountered a group, had to fight for your ground or be banished back to the enterance?

You were trying to get to your group in Barren Sky and you had a 4 minute wait at the spire, a wait that you couldn't /afk for fear that you may die to a group?

Your raid ported into Antonica and there was a full raid of <Guild Name Here> zoning in at the same time?

That Ranger would be up on the buildings on Temple Street and he would get 10 kills before some finally was smart enough to get up there and take him down?

You would form a good 6 man group to run rounds in KoS?

Carnage flags meant something?

You felt so dumb for chasing that Bruiser through Fallen Gate not knowing the power of FD?

You had to actually run instances to get that super rare piece of gear?

Spawning the fence was something that was actually done? -And how that risk of carrying 15 plat at the time felt?

A good 6v6 fight would last 5-10 minutes?

You got that Master title mid fight only to lose it when your group died?

After all the good times I know I have had I am starting to wonder what led this to all go downhill...

Don't forget being able to completely deny access to an instance. Fighting over a zone-in or portal was alot of fun.

Yeah. Old zones were much pvp friendlier. They encouraged travelling by foot instead of the quest-hub and griffon infested newer zones. There were many contested dungeons. The level range wasnt as wide. The PvP range was bigger. Good gear was harder to attain (at lower levels). Grouping was encouraged outside of dungeons. Everything just felt like it made sense.

Yeah those were the good old days. Pvp armor and titles meant something. Had to have positive faction of 10k with The Lucanic Knights when you started off with -40k. I think it was around 750 kills to reach that positive Faction to get your first piece. The pvp battles in Antonica at the Thunderingsteps griffion tower would last for hours

I really don't enjoy the current system, after seeing what it was KoS/EoF days, then coming back last year. Gone are the days when you find people/a group in an open zone, like PoA, without knowledge of who/what they are, without knowledge of the gear they had, etc. Now it is either no tactics or strategy, no surprise, in SS or KP, or desperately try to find people elsewhere, that usually run without a fight, because they are powerleveling poorly-geared, or are plat farmers poorly-geared, or what ever.

Or....the thrill of your first actual kill against some jerk griefing you as you were trying to catch up to a friend that brought you into the game?

The number of times I had literally THROWN my headset, screamed '$*#*, same [Removed for Content] #$%^ every @#%$@# time I get near the docks.'

Now I can't seem to find ANYONE to stand and fight. /sigh

Swisha's Post, I agree 1,000,000 % with you and Actually Laughed Out Loud while reading it because it was true. Those where the good ole days when eq2 was truly fun. I remember rollling out on my lowbie in those days as a Destroyer and running CL and ANT pvp grps and going from dessy to slayer back to dessy and sometimes even poping champ in one night! Those was good ole days when you did not care for titles like you do today because you knew their would be targets and you would get your title eventually!

I remember when.........

I've got three 80ish alts...that are decidedly NOT SK's. But...I guess I can see your point. But I chased a level 90 SK from Marred all the way back to moonfield the other day...he cliff dove when we got there. 0.o

Open world PvP is what separated EQ2 from everything else. gg SoE.... gg.
