I've been getting massive Half-LD's while playing EQ2 since returning, and I believe it may be directly linked to the client constantly downloading new content while I'm in-game. When I used to play there was an option on the launcher that I could disable or enable. However, now there is no such option in the options button the new launcher.

How might I go about disabling content being downloaded while I'm in-game via the game files?

Thanks !

/bump Urgent issue already burried !

The new streaming client shouldn't be causing those sort of performance issues - the background streaming was the most efficient part of it when I tested. So if that really is your problem please /bug it so they can look into it. In the meantime I suggest you install the Station Launcher which will download the whole game for you before letting you in. Do a quick search in the support forums for the link. Make sure you configure it to point to your existing game folder to avoid getting a new one as I think the default paths on the 2 launchers may be different. You may also want to set that one going just before you go to bed as it may take a while to get the complete game.

Fadedspirit...

The only way to "disable" content being downloaded while you are playing is to have it all up to date before you launch the game.

As tkia mentioned, you can do this with the Station Launcher...but you can now also do this with the new launcher as well. After it does its initial patch, you will notice that it continues to update your assets - there is a countdown progress just underneath the "Play" button.

If you launch the game while this is going on, you may need to download content while playing. If you wait until this completes, you should not.

-dan

I wish I could agree and say all is well. However, the launcher won't download the files. It just sits there with the "play" button lit up, and under the play button it says "Downloading 12.36GB of files..." which will periodically go down by a .09 or so every 30minutes.

However, if I restart my computer that number resets, and my bandwidth allocation is quite large compared to other MMO's because of this. My isp has been having issues with "streaming" information, so downloads normally stop mid-download, and videos have to be reloaded .

Finally, I'm not using the "streaming" client as that thing's a piece of poodoo ^-^!

-Thanks

I'd also like to recap, and emphasis, that I can still play Eq2 by hitting the "play" button. However, it's blatantly obvious that it's still downloading files while I'm playing (under options it allows me to allocate 10% to full bandwidth towards downloading additional content while I play).

I want to disable this as it's causing me Half-Ld problems while playing (forces me to restart, a non-option during raids/groups as I'm normally a healer or tank). I know there IS a way to turn this off completely, or else it'd cause you to lose customers with poorer bandwidth than I do.

-Faded

Set it to run as administrator.
