Launcher wont work.

<p>I downloaded the launcher from the Reinstall tab on the EQ2 page. The launcher installs just fine but when i boot up the launcher it immediately gets stuck on the black SOE logo and wont proceed any further.</p><p>I enabled WSP and RAS under the compatability fixes in the launcher properties tab and it didnt fix the problem. Run as administrator wont help either. It always just locks up at the SOE logo.</p>

<p>Greetings,</p><p>It's possible that your game and/or Launcher folders are being set to read only.  Please follow these steps to ensure they are not set that way:1) Find your Game and Launcher folders2) Right click that folder and open the 'properties' menu3) In the 'General' tab, remove any check/mark in the 'Read-Only' box4) Then hit the apply button and choose 'apply changes to this folder, subfolders and filesThat should remove the read only flag from the game files so that they can update.</p>

<p>I'm having this exact issue myself. the problem is that i cannot fix the check box on read only, it just shows a shaded green box no matter how many times i try to fix it. i've tried various work arounds for this, but it appears that it is just a known problem with Windows XP. </p><p>None of the individual files are read only, just the folder shows that something in the folders "could be". is there a workaround that anyone has found to work? I suppose I could put it on my Vista or 7 compy, but it seems theres a lot of issues about that as well. I guess it's nice to know that some things never change. I started EQ1 back in '99, and i have had issues since then. Reminiscing can be painful. </p>

<p>I am having the same kind of issue, except i get to the loading scree where it says caching appearances, then i get : EQ2  launcher has encountered a problem and windows is shutting it down, same spot same message and i reinstalled it with anitvirus off, changed the read only. my free trial from the down load is ticking away and i still havent gotten to server select screen..this is great stuff...</p>
