A couple of days ago, I downloaded the trial for EQ2. I decided to go ahead get the latest (Sentinel's Fate) at a Best Buy. I installed it, said to use the existing log in stuff (from the trial), and everything seemed ok. Until the install and update finished and I logged in to the game, only to find that my characters I had started (one a level 19) weren't there.

The activation key is linked to the account that I used for the trial, and when I check the account status, it shows that it's all there, but I don't have the characters I was using. Did I screw something up, or am I just a victim of fate?

(To make it clear, my Station account was set up 2 days ago when I started the trial. I linked a new boxed copy of SF today, though Istill had 12 days on th trial. There was no account deactivation or any of that.)

You may be logging into the wrong Region. Are you seeing the same servers you had in the Trial? You may have to create a new character to see what servers are available to you.

To answer your implied question, yes, you should be able to see and play your Trial characters if (as you stipulated) you linked the box code to your account correctly and you are using the same Region to log in.

I'll check the region. Although I don't THINK I messed that up

I'll check and then post if that wasit or not.

I did some further looking into things, and it is MY screwup. It would appear that I DID NOT do things right. My characters on the trial were under a different login name. Now, how would I get TWO different station accounts? And I guess that since the one linked with the paid subscription would be the one that I'm stuck with, right?

Don't get me wrong....it's my fault and I understand I'll probably end up having to start over. It's just kinda frustrating. I guess that when you install the software, it doesn't tell you that you entered incorrect login info, it just creates a new account for you. OR, maybe I had an account from a long long time ago. (It does say something about original activation date being in Feb of '09.......

I hate it when it's me that screws up. Now to find out if there is an way to rescue those guys that are gonna be abandoned.

</BIG EDIT OVER

----------------

Disregard the following, even if it IS the original:

Okay, I did some checking. It would appear that by installing the boxed software, I now have 2 launchers...the streaming and the other one. The streaming still has the "upgrade now! 12 days remaining" box. My characters are there. The OTHER launcher, though it is set to the same account (well, the user name and password are the same, so isn't that the same account?), and both are the same region (US English), doesn't have them.

am now wondering if I am the reason it is messed up. (But still, since I am using the same login name and PW, shouldn't they both either have the old characters or both be missing them?) AAARRRRRGGGGGHHHH! I am just confused now.

I just finished a chat session with a tsr. Got the situation resolved, and now all is well. Sorry to have dumped this here in the first place, but thanks for the reply that got my brain spinning in the RIGHT direction.

LATER!

We realize it's easy to make this sort of mistake so we'll always do whatever we can to get it corrected, within reason. Let us know if you need any assistance in the future.

Well, honestly, I wasn't going to press the issue. Once I realized it was MY mistake, and since I hadn' really gotten that far, it wouldn't have been that much of a problem to start over. The tsr was so nice in our chat, however, that I just asked "is it possible...", and he said "Yeah, we can do that."

My concern when I first posted was that I had done every thing RIGHT, and something happened. As soon as I discovered it was MY goof, it became more of "if it can be done, okay, if not I understand." (I wish I had noticed the live chat option first, though!)

Write this up as not being patient enough to MAKE SURE I GOT THE STUFF RIGHT. I'm just glad it's sorted out. Now, if only I had my charaters leveled up more.....but that isn't a tech support issue; it's a play the game more and it'll happen issue Thank you for the help and concern about my goof. It makes me glad that I decided to play EQ2.

Happy gaming!
