View Full Version : Rewards for the Mega Collection... a bit of a let down

Posted in the stickied gear thread as well, but I think making a topic might make more sense. I'm not sure how easy it would be to improve these a bit, but they're a bit disappointing right now. Spending 25 seals in Moonfield will produce a better charm at this point. I don't think they should be the best charms in game, but they should be up there. The TSO collection rewards were good enough that they are still being used by some toons in this expansion. (Not I, but I know of many)

Considering the level of time investment, difficulty, and plat sink that these charms are, they should be made special. They're harder to complete than the Ethernauts collection in my opinion.

Suggestions Give all Charms 5 Mount Speed, +500 to all resists +unique toggle ability for each rune. Tank rune gets enlarge, mage rune gets a passive black-colored light ambience, healer rune gets white-colored light ambience, scout gets shrink. Joined Runes: make it +60 STR +55 STA +30 AGI +15 WIS +15 INT and add 2.4 to block and mitigation, not 2.0 Better tank proc, something like lifetap, or stonewill

Fused Runes +15 STR +55 STA +15 AGI +30 WIS +60 INT and add 2.9 to potency and bonus, not 2.5

Better caster proc, something closer to Torrent or Pestitential Rain, or have it give a passive range/radius boost for spells and keep the current proc. Give summoners a little love on this one as well.

Melded Runes +15 STR +55 STA +15 AGI +60 WIS +30 INT and add 2.9 to potency and bonus, not 2.5 Switch the Health and Power +330 Health +250 Power

Good proc on this one. Boost it to 750 instead of 500.

Combined Runes +30 STR +55 STA +60 AGI +15 WIS +15 INT and add 2.9 to potency and bonus, not 2.5 Passive boost to accuracy and range.

Change the proc to some sort of encounter debuff.

Proc needs to be a Torrent proc or some similar encounter proc for it to be worth the time/plat investment. Upping the crit bonus and potency by a full percent would make it much more worthwhile. Ability modifier is always helpful as well. Any combination of those would make me feel better about the money I wasted on it.

the reason this is such a big deal is the sheer vast difficulty it is to get the item should make it great.

In fact, I'm almost ok with it being the best charm in game. I mean it will likely be more work to get than getting the sig-quest charms... more time, more plat... so why not?

None of the SF instances are difficult, they are all a joke if you compare them to some of the TSO instances, where you actually needed some skill!

It's a Timesink and nothing more, you don't even have to clear all final names in these instances to get all shines!

I said it before in another threat, it a collection quest an the charm is already in its current from as good as raid charms! There is no need to improve the charm even more!

If you feel there should be more reward for the collection, then sure ask for a mount or some house item etc. But don't ask for uber items you can get of the broker! Don't open up the doors for platt farmers & Co again - the moment you make such an "easy" (as in no skill) obtainable item, you just invite bottgroups back who will run these instances to sell shinies. And we get the great platt spamm again! No thank you!

Leave the item as it is, and just add as much fluff (appearance/ mount etc) as you want to it! If you want top quality gear work for it by killing the Top boss in instance or Raid zones! A Timesink does not justify uber Loot!

I guess the issue right now is that it is worse than seal-bought charms.

And I think that is a crock. I think it should be better than x4 trash-drop charms and seal-bought charms by far.

Give it something to make it unique. The Ethernauts collection rewards again... were "cool". Had a secondary purpose, and were up there with raid quality, and generally better than anything other than named-drops in raids.

If you at least give the potency/crit bonus a +.5 boost it makes these more feasible in that area. I would just as much like to see some special effects as part of the charm being equipped.

I will agree. These charms are not that great. There is legendary gear that is better. For the TIMESINK (cough) I would think it would have something better to offer. The proc itself is even a joke.

I mean really, I don't think there is anything strange about having it be the 2nd or 3rd best charm in game.

Also... I think they should make a "Summoned Runes" charm for summoners or something. Give it a unique color and its own effects.

I just checked test, and the fighter one has been slightly improved. The proc does ~200 more damage and will also grant 3% strikethrough for 10 seconds when it triggers.

Priest one is probably too good, honestly. Regenerating group wards are very strong. If it's intended to be by far the best charm in the game for a priest, that's fine, but I'm not sure if that's what they're aiming for.

Actually, if the priest one's proc effect follows the same none-stacking rules as the other gear based regenerating wards do then it isn't that great. Can anyone confirm how it works, so we know if the change was an upgrade or a downgrade?

The 500 point ward is a GROUP ward, meaning that its 500 points across the whole group, not per person. It will get eaten up quickly by a single person, if its even used at all (see posts that state how regenerating ward procs are consumed). Has anyone tried this to see how it is reacting with other regenerating ward procs?

Nah it's 500 per person in the group. It's not a collective ward, which is what the shaman group wards are. This one is infact like shield of faith, prophetic ward, and ward of the untamed. Where everyone in the group gets a single ward for that amount. I however do not know if it stacks with the other regening wards or not. That has me quite concerned as well, because if it doesn't, it's pretty much a nerf, although I don't think that was the intent.

I put in for a /testcopy and have the charm and wards that regen (hateshield, ancient invigoration). Once my copy goes through I'll log onto test and check it out and report back. Assuming we haven't heard back from someone else or a red name first.

-Korack the Ogre Shaman

Ok my test copy went through so I got to test it out. It stacks with ancient invigoration I and hateshield. Those are those only two other regening wards I have at the moment, but I assume it stacks with everything. It's on a tick/regen of 5 seconds. So you're looking at a total of 1750 per ward per groupmate. Possibly 2k per, if dmg lands as the last tick regens at 0-1sec left on the buff. All in all it seems like a very nice upgrade to the item and I couldn't be happier. I'm looking forward to it going live so I can see how it parses in some of these AE heavy raids.

-Korack the Ogre Shaman

Because Hatesheild and AI will show up on the same player, but only one will actually be consumed. Not sure how intensive your testing was.

Stacks as in both are up and both take damage. I tested it twice, once with hateshield and it (rune meld) up, and then with ancient invigoration and it (rune meld) up again. During both of these times, both hateshield/ancient invig and rune meld took damage. I watched as both went to a 0 ward and regened up together (although they're on different ticks). But they're definately stacking as in both taking damage.

Also just tested it, it seems only we're getting the +3% reuse, which is what I expected. But I did want to test it as well, since it seemed everyone in the group is/was gettting the same buff.

-Korack the Ogre Shaman
