Greetings,

It would be hard to say exactly what is causing this with the information provided so far. If you haven't already, updating your graphics card drivers would be a decent first step. Beyond that, a UI reset would be a good idea for now. You may want to make backups and then delete the following files and folders:cache foldereq2_recent.inieq2_default.iniEverQuest2.exee q2.iniAs well as the character specific files, these will appear as such:Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.iniSt ationname_characters.iniIf deleting these files does not resolve your issue, you can restore your backed up files and folders and retain your hotkeys, contact lists, and display settings.

I have did what you adviced, and it didnt work. I am still crashing. Any other ideas?

I was having the same problem.I went to the options/alternate models menu and checked the option for my characters race.Logged my character out and then tried the alternate appearance again and it worked.Hope that helps ya.

Replying, because I am also getting this problem.I recently (as in yesterday) did a complete reinstall of EQ2 (all expansions and such) since I got a new computer. All my UIs are on default as well as I don't download add-ons; I deleted the files suggested in the first reply anyways, with no change to this problem after. I've done complete file scan three times now, and still if I try to change a character's Alternate Appearance using Character Select, my game crashes. All graphics card drivers, etc. are up to date so they are not the issue.

(Edit: I've also noticed if I try to change it using the barber in-game, the changes wont take effect.)
