Have you ever done a cycle of BG's and have someone else on the same cycle constantly killing you or trying to? Not just because you're the enemy but because you are you. Antagonist. Anti-hero. Nemesis. The other day I was playing my ranger all day through BG. I kept coming across 2 specific players. They were almost always on the opposite team. For some reason I think they hated me. One dirge in particular would bypass everyone else on the team to come after me. He truly had some rage happening. Maybe it was as a result of my killing him a few times in an earlier match and every match after that. Seriously. One time he was the relic holder in klak. His team was below their base and I was on the opposite side below their base doing all the damage I could manage. He saw me and jumped (fea glide) across to attack me leaving his healer behind. He died almost instantly from a combination of relic damage, my damage, and a brig that joined me. It was crazy. He really hated me. He did simular stuff everytime I encountered him. I have to admit I have experience simular rage myself. This warlock was managing some massive damage (post-fix) and I simply couldn't kill them. Once I saved all my best shots for them and only dropped them to half. Clearly they were specced and geared beyond my abilities. I managed to kill them a few times but it felt like luck. But I couldn't stop myself. I must have shot 2 plat worth of arrows into that lock after 15 matches and got maybe 3 kills. He surely killed me 30 times for free. There were easier targets that could have helped my teams but I couldn't help myself. That lock had to die. BG rage is surely not healthy and makes me look like a bad player. But... I have to kill that warlock. I will get the gear, the masters, the skill, and the AA and I will kill that warlock. I'm on a mission from god.... Anyone else experience this?

Ehh, I am mostly an equal opportunity team wrecker. If someone happens to kill me more times than I kill them though, I'll usually go out of my way to correct that before the match is over.

Some people rage hate the class you might be playing and maybe not so much the person playing the class.

If I come across another sorc in BG's I usally try and always target and kill them 1st repeatedly too. Sometimes it has nothing to do with the actual person playing that class.

I agree with Paill. I see a wiz or warlock from the other team and I focus on them. If I see someone from Nagafen freeport side I will always attack them and give hugs while doing it. That way when the match is over we can laugh about it when we get back to our server.

Dont think I have "rage" but the BG has really renewed my intrest in the game.

I know I look to win each round and cake targets are fun for a while but for some reason if there is an opposing Swash Im gonna find him as often as I can,,, ( seems they do the same though ) Next in the lineup would have to be folks from my server just so ya can say hi after the match.

Also some of the folks that this "rage" has occured on have ended up being on my team down the line and we have both complimented each other on either taking or being taken out! I have met some really great folks from other servers that wouldn't have been possible if not for the RAGE

'YOU MUST DIE. I ALONE AM BEST'. i play a zerk tho, so going after other zerks is kinda lame. and the matches are only 15 minutes. i head-hunt: warlock>wiz>enchanter>summoner>rangers>the other scouts>healers>tanks. of course when i see someone i know to be dangerous, regardless of class, i will drop what i'm doing and attempt to lock them down.

ps your sig is pretty much the coolest one i've seen

Whoever got the kill shot on me last is usually the prime target of my next Sonic Punch + Drag.

It's not really vindictive, but any scout (and the occasional brawler) who kills me is someone I know has to be targetted and put down. Mages never kill me, so I don't really pay much attention to them.

Really only done this intentionally with two people.

1.) First was actually my friend while I was on an alt. I saw she was on the opposing team, and who she was with, and sent her an IM going, "Oh, crap, you guys are so going to murder me!" And then I proceeded to charge past her group to kill her as fast as I could. Yays! And then they murdered me, again, and again. But I had to get my friend just -once- to say I did.

2.) The other is just a pretty notorious idiot on my server, and me targeting that one is nothing new. I think half the people who do BGs from my server have targeted that one just for giggles.

Beyond that, if I notice someone is a particularly easy kill or particularly dangerous, sure, I'll go after them every time I see them. That's just smart.

I don't know if this is the case with the OP, but I know that I have repeatedly killed the same person in BGs for one simple reason. They were easy to kill the first time, so if I see them again, I might as well kill them again. It takes them out of the fight. And I am pretty sure this has happened in reverse. I can think of several assassins that just had it in for me, but probably because they found me an easy kill that match.

But, separate from that, I would guess that most people probably have their favorite targets. I play a ranger and for some perverse reason, I get more pleasure out of killing a ranger than just about anyone else.

Oh yes, I understand the concept. While I'll normally try to target mages and scouts with my Brigand main, one person did earn a permanent mark of death in my mental book. Bosscog the gnomish Fury (from one of the PvP servers).

I was playing my Brigand main at the time. Being only 87th when I first entered the BG system, my 1st night of play introduced me to this character. No matter which match type I would get into, they were always on the opposite team. Out of some kind of respect, he would always come after me to neutralize my potential threat to his group. But of course, he was also completed decked out in PvP gear and have every ugly bell and whistle on him. Every so often, I was able to kill him. Or avoid him. Yet in general, I was steam rolled by him the whole night. (Appearantly being mastered out with T3 / T4 TSO gear isn't enough to kill a PvP geared out character. It was a learning experience.)

Every so often while I continued to BG at 89th (while being AA locked to gather tokens), I would run into my old "friend". Even though it wasn't very frequent, I still remember his name to this day. (From what I heard in VC, it seems that Bosscog is universally hated to have as an opponent in the 80th BG bracket.) Once I start actively playing in the 90th BG environment, I plan on trying to hunt him down now that we'll both have PvP / BG gear. It's rematch time!

I wouldn't say I go out my way to kill whoever has killed me but I will go after the one that will most likely do the most damage if left unchecked. Only time I change that is if there is a healer nearby in which case they die first.

Personal vendettas aside, I tend to go for players that pose the greatest risk to the team that are within my abilities to kill. I tend to wind up ignoring tanks entirely - snaring them and just leaving them to waddle their way around while I try to take down their highest damage class so that the healers are undefended.

I used to focus on killing healers, but since the damage nerf, that's an often unrealistic goal.

Yeah I ignore tanks also.. although they rarely ignore me.

lol these stories made me giggle quite a bit! i admit i am guilty of BG rage when i see certain players! heh its not because i dont liek them either...its more of...''OH CRAP!'' and i can either a) stay by the tank and healer and hope they dont smoosh me before i get my spell off. or b) if my team mates have fallen, i still try to stand my ground, because a lil ol mage running from a scout, or a brawler...well...just doesnt work to well. hah!

but seeing your class on the oposing team usualy mean, their in your auto target beam. because especialy with us sorcerers, we know, if we dont nuke them first, or at least keep them from casting the big stuff, they will do the same to us. meanwhile having a scout slice your back open and rip out your spine mid cast. sometimes it fun running accross those players because you know they know what their doing and present a challenge to you

...

......

.......

.......................even if they do make you scream, spill your coffee and go on a BG rage rampage to hunt them down next time, until you successfully kill them.....at least once!

As I healer, who often solo heals gears, I can not express rage but I do notice Player A always attacking Player B. Quite interesting sometimes.
