Are you able to get in game or do you get dropped with the zoning screen up?

Same here. In Sands. getting kicked to either character screen or "trying to login to server 2" again and again.

Also noticed that EQ2 login icon "start in" information was now incorrect... weird.

Dobs

I can get in, then after a few minutes I stop being able to interact with the game and then about 30-60 seconds later drop to character select.

i'm able to log into the game just fine, and it runs smooth for about 5-10 minutes then it kicks me to character select. i'm then able to log back in but again in 5-10 minutes im right back at character select

It seems to be happening in any zone - first in my guildhall, then toxxulia's lair and now in palace of roehn theer. killed my group on one pull and then happened again right as toxx died - then it was really hard to get logged back in and kept kicking me to character as i was stuck loading zone info over and over.

When I get booted to character select I also can not load the forums here (says server is re-setting the connection), and I get booted from Station Patcher, even though I can load any other website and non-Sony game with no problem.

I have the same problem and have had it for months now I get kicked to character select after 5-20 minutes of playtime. It seems to be totally random as to when I get kicked, tried it midfight, doing absolutly nothing and when zoning.

Any help on how to solve this problem is much appreciated!

Same thing was happening to me Friday afternoon/evening. It was in all kinds of zones, at random intervals. I ran a full scan update and still had the problem.

It's not a connection issue, everything else is working fine (vent, etc.). Sometimes I'm able to get back in right away and will even still be in my group when I get back, other times it takes a while and several attempts.

Going to try again later this morning and see if it's still happening.

I'm being kicked to character select over and over again too. (Splitpaw)

It started after the patch yesterday . Sometimes it even happens immediately after I re-enter the game after being kicked out. It's impossible to play on Splitpaw. This is especially annoying now as it is bonus xp weekend and I had planned to do some serious crafting this weekend.

(btw I can play just fine on Nagafen)

Updating, still experiencing this issue this morning (wanted to try with less people on to see if it would somehow make a difference).

BTW I can play up to 3 instances of the game at once on my computer. I get booted whether I'm 1 or 2 or 3 boxing, and when it happens it hits all active accounts at once. So if I have 3 up, all 3 will get booted at the same time. Dunno if that means anything but figured I'd throw that out there.

Just to add more information:

Two computers, one with Windows XP and one with Windows 7, both using Time Warner. Any character, any zone, and when they get dropped to character select the EverQuest II website is also unavailable. Any other website and other games work normally.

The issue of being kicked and not able to access anything from Sony Online Entertainment just started yesterday afternoon and has continued into this morning. The game is virtually unplayable and any type of grouping is out of the question.

Since most of the people responding aren't offering much useful information, it seems as if it is specific to Time Warner members and just started yesterday.

Having the same problem. Never had connection issues before.

Started last night before and during raid and continuing this morning ungrouped. Game kicks me to character select repeatedly. No pattern to the disconnects. Happening in full raid and ungrouped, casting or doing nothing, even standing still. Had something like 10 drops last night in 4 hours of raiding, and already 4 drops this morning in less than an hour.

When it does happen, I get kicked to character select. One thing I noticed is if I exit the game at that point and restart the game from scratch, I can get back in to the game without rebooting. However, if I try even once to reconnect directly from the character select after being kicked without exiting the game fully, then it tries to load the character, fails, send me back to character select over and over. At that point, if I try to disconnect the game and restart EQ2, then the launchpad never loads and the only way to fix it is to reboot my machine.

I tried a few things on my end this morning. Full file scan found nothing. Bypassed the router, same issue occurred. Tried a spare cable modem, same issue occurred. Checked video card drivers and seating, memory, and temperatures with no problems. No issues in other internet multiplayer games. Not sure what else to try. Can try to reinstall the game fresh from disk and update it all afternoon and see what happens.

I am running fully updated Windows XP with Time Warner Cable as my ISP. Have another raid tonight, and not looking forward to making 23 other people lose an hour of 4 hour raid waiting on me. Any immediate attention is appreciated.

I am also in the New York area and just got off the phone with Technical Support at Time Warner Cable where I spoke with Jerome. He requested the following information be sent to him from anyone having this issue:

Trace Route: This can be obtained by running cmd and typing "tracert" following by a space and entering in the IP address for this forum, or by using the Firefox plugin WorldIP.

Include a copy of the entire Trace Route response, the IP address, and include Jerome, his EID (Employee Identification) E111536, and the ticket number is 262967 in the subject line.

I confirmed with Jerome that including all of the above information in this forum thread would assist him and us in getting this issue resolved.

*Edit* I ran the traceroute while disconnected and it showed a timeout after Newark and before Washington.

Oh yeah, the e-mail address would help... Sorry, didn't sleep well. [email protected]

Can't get a representative log to send in, some work fine and sometimes it lags or even times out on the first leg from me to Time Warner, other times around the Atlanta leg, other times in Dallas, or San Diego, and finally had a time out at the SOE server right before the forum.

For what it's worth, it appears to be similar to getting booted when you've been idle for 30 minutes or whatever. When I get back all my chat from before I was booted is still there, with a gap from when I was offline of course. I think something went wrong with that program and it's hitting people randomly.

Anastasie

If it's the program that boots idle players - then it's severely messed up. I'm being booted in the middle of raids and while in combat.

Hmmm.. any news from Time Warner cable?

Also for those that live in Norway, is it possible to be "piggy backed" through a Time Warner Cable line as well somewhere down the tracert

One thing that I know for sure is that many people come to these forums as soon as something is wrong with their gaming. If it were more of a widespread thing in game, this this thread would be A LOT bigger then it is. It stinks for those that are having this issue, but the link of Time Warner Cable for "most" of them can not be denied.

A tracert from those living in Norway may help as well. I am moving this to the Tech Support forums not to "hide it" as I have been accused of, but more to hopefully get the help that people over there can provide.

The issue that I see is trying to find where the common denominator is in all of this. It is not effecting everyone, which leads me to believe that it is something else... again, I am not Tech support, so my opinion is going off of what I see on these forums.

As for Time Warner, I am not sure, I do not use them myself.... but it does seem to be a common denominator in all this with many of the people having these issues. Perhaps if you could post the tracert, when the techies get in, they can look.

*** Read before posting ***

By the way, I meant no insult and it does stink that you can not play .

Jerome's e-mail response wasn't helpful as he suggested it was a game update, which wouldn't impact the website. I called back and spoke with Rob, also in tier three, and he escalated it up to the people who actually track down and resolve issues. Unfortunately those guys don't work weekends so there will be nothing until Monday. Leaving all of us impacted by this completely out of luck for the bonus weekend.

Rob did confirm that they have the multiple e-mails sent in which should help track down what is happening and I am supposed to get a call back about it tomorrow.

*Edit* I scanned over the above post and saw that in the traceroute it hit Washington which is where my own traceroute tended to have issues. If someone from Norway could post or check their traceroute for which areas of the United States it hits we may have found the problem.

Also happening to me on TWC. We're sending in our information to them in the hopes that something can be figured out.

This is absolutely infuriating and frustrating trying to play right now. You just get going and doing something and bam, you're out of the game again.

A great deal of people don't post on the forums when they have issues. I know there were at least several others in my guild that were having the same issue that suddenly appeared on Friday after you patched something. I don't know what you changed to try to fix the zoning/lag issues, but it seems to be making the game unplayable for a number of people including myself. This is extremely distruptive to gameplay as not only does it boot you from the game, but for some reason it takes over 5 minutes to get back into the game most of the time. Needless to say, this makes raiding impossible. This needs to be fixed asap or there will be a lot of very unhappy customers.

As Lysari said above, this is also happening to us (We're on the same connection), and we always both drop at the same time.

A recent call to Time Warner Tech Support said they saw our Cable modem power cycling, so they sent us in to get a new one. Unfortunately, that didn't fix the issue. What annoys me most is that we upgraded to their "Turbo" service, and while websites are much faster, our connection to EQ2 is fail.

After doing dozens of tracerts, I'm constistently seeing issues in the Atlanta and Dallas hops.

Tracing route to forums.station.sony.com [199.108.0.130]over a maximum of 30 hops:

  1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 172.16.64.1 2 12 ms 9 ms 12 ms cpe-24-193-212-1.si.res.rr.com [24.193.212.1] 3 11 ms 9 ms 9 ms gig-3-11-nycmny2-rtr02.si.rr.com [24.164.128.54] 4 10 ms 12 ms 13 ms tengig-1-1-nycmny1-rtr02.si.rr.com [24.164.128.26] 5 13 ms 12 ms 13 ms tengig-2-0-0-nycmnya-rtr1.nyc.rr.com [24.164.129.237] 6 12 ms 12 ms 12 ms tenge-2-0-0-nwrknjmd-rtr.nyc.rr.com [24.29.119.110] 7 12 ms 12 ms 12 ms ae-4-0.cr0.nyc30.tbone.rr.com [66.109.6.78] 8 47 ms 11 ms 12 ms ae-1-0.pr0.nyc30.tbone.rr.com [66.109.6.161] 9 34 ms 11 ms 25 ms xe-9-0-0.edge2.Newark1.Level3.net [4.59.20.29] 10 15 ms 18 ms 17 ms ae-32-52.ebr2.Newark1.Level3.net [4.68.99.62] 11 18 ms 19 ms 18 ms ae-4-4.ebr2.Washington1.Level3.net [4.69.132.101] 12 29 ms 18 ms 17 ms ae-62-62.csw1.Washington1.Level3.net [4.69.134.146] 13 19 ms 31 ms 19 ms ae-61-61.ebr1.Washington1.Level3.net [4.69.134.129] 14 * 34 ms 35 ms ae-2-2.ebr3.Atlanta2.Level3.net [4.69.132.85] 15 * 54 ms 54 ms ae-7.ebr3.Dallas1.Level3.net [4.69.134.21] 16 56 ms 54 ms 52 ms ae-82-88.ebr2.Dallas1.Level3.net [4.69.146.83] 17 82 ms 82 ms 84 ms ae-4-4.car2.SanDiego1.Level3.net [4.69.133.213] 18 84 ms 83 ms 82 ms ge-1-1.hsa1.SanDiego1.Level3.net [4.69.134.86] 19 84 ms 82 ms 84 ms vl861.sdtermswitch-1.sonyonline.net [63.215.251.130] 20 83 ms 83 ms 82 ms vl831.sdkollsw-1.sonyonline.net [64.37.144.82] 21 84 ms 84 ms 84 ms jforum.station.sony.com [199.108.0.130]

Trace complete.

We couldnt stay in any sort of instance, we'd get kicked....that was the weird thing...though it was explained to us at the time...something about it not looking like our connection was alive...lag lag, zoning took forever or kicked us.

Frustrated, we blamed the server...we researched transfring and for reasons of costs, moved to the Bazaar where our experience was no different. We quit eq2, moved to WOW...which didn't help and eventually learned that our ISP was .....bandwidth or traffic shaping. Apparently, the ports used for games are different then ports used for http. They were overloaded with customers and were lowering the prioirty of requests made on ports for things other then email and http. It was intentional on their part to get us (gamers and other sorts of nar-do wells) off the lines and they admitted it eventually. We are rural and without alot of options but we have since that time gotten dsl.

I'm not saying it's not eq2's fault. I can hardly know that for sure, but I CAN say..there are cases where culprits other then the obivous are to blame. Whatever is the cause, I wish it gets taken care of. EQ2 is for many, they way they destress and when it's not usable, it's not really destrssful is it

Getting kicked here quite often when zoning - no common zones involved - some include Longshadow -> player house, CL -> Fallen Gate, Longshadow - North FP, calling to guild hall from CL, to guild hall from Fallen gate - as a few examples

Runnyeye server, playing from Australia

It's possible this was somehow caused by the bonus XP weekend, don't think my problems started until it went active but can't recall. The bonus is supposed to end tonight, can only hope that this was the cause and that I'll be able to play again once it ends.

I will put this here as I've been curious about it for awhile now. I am not, and cannot say i've ever had, a problem with getting kicked to CS over and over repeatedly. I CAN say however that, from the best of my knowledge, since before SF went live. I do seem to have a problem getting randomly kicked to CS aprox once every hour or so. I don't know if this is related as in my case it ALWAYS happens when attempting to zone to somewhere else. Never any other time i've noticed. I also live in Las Vegas fairly close to the game servers. Again not sure if this is related or helpfull to anyone at SOE but I thought i'd add this since in my case it is repeatable and always happens at a specific point in the game. But not consistently.

I have gotten kicked to the character select screen several times but fairly infrequently, maybe once or twice in a night. but it does happen at least every other day so it is also somewhat persistent. It usually happens while zoning though not always. twice while zoning into the guildhall in south qeynos. once while zoning out of the maid for the mist into enchanted lands and once spontainiously while standing on the docks in enchanted lands. This has never happened to me before a few days ago.

Hi,

Been having this problem for several weeks now. All my other games work fine, as does my internet. EQ2 never crashes but when I zone 70 % of the time I get dumped to Character Screen. Then have to wait a couple of minutes to get back in, as it says I have a toon in game already.

Tried everything.... remeoved my UI, updated graphics drivers etc... but nothing changes. No sure why but porting or zoneing around qeynos seems to be worse ... goes up to like 90% of the time in these zone ins.

Please someone help!
