New Halas and the zone of Frostfang Sea are now on Test and Test Copy! Please assemble any feedback and bugs that you may find with the Cragged Spine content of Frostfang Sea in this thread; quests, population, etc. It is the fourth quest camp of the zone. This should help us keep it all as organized as possible.

Thank you, everyone!

~Kaitheel

When I got to this camp I did the quests from Hillfred, Odon, and Knut. After they all told me to go see Thirin (not through quest dialogue, but hailing them after), but Thirin doesn't offer me any quests. When I was out on the jagged daggers doing the other quests I picked to a "Ry'Gorr Scrying Eye" thinking it was a quest starter. It doesn't bring up any quest, although it says it is required by a quest I am not on. (From Thirin, who won't give me anything.) The item is no-destroy, so I can't get rid of it, and it seems I can't progress in the questlines anymore.

We have the "roughing up reinforcements" and "highly flammable materials" quests. The clickable items for these quests seem to be missing though we did get two weapon racks.. but they did not respawn. We also cant find any bones for the gauntlet quest, which makes me think the server mechanism for respawning clicky items is not working.

i can't swim out to jagged daggers without ending back up at character select.

i just swim out a little ways into the water, and then everything lags out and i end up at character select.

I also can't find any weapon racks or anything to burn down the camp. Spent a fair amount of time looking, then asked in Test channel to discover others having the same problem.

I can't remember the name of the quest but it is the one where you need to use the bait on snowpacks and iceflows. I was not able to complete that one yesterday because the bait wouldn't work on any of the snowpacks. I had three but I couldn't get the last two and I tried it on every single one in the area. (obsessive quester) I suspect that the bait simply cant be used on a mob that has been caught lately and with the number of people out there each needing five I could imagine that all the snowpacks had been "used." The frustration is that the mob doesn't despawn it doesn't take long for the quest to be undoable or at least appear that way.

Heyya all!

Thelgald, our newest design apprentice, wanted to make this post himself, but unfortunately he does not yet have posting privileges, yet. So, here it is:

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to let you all know that the problems involving “Roughing Up The Reinforcements” from Thirin Veliumdelver in the Cragged Spine have been fixed. The Ry’Gorr Scrying Eye is no longer No-Destroy, so if you want to get rid of it, you can. It also only drops during the appropriate stage of the quest. Additionally, the weapon racks for the same quest are re-spawning again. If you had spent hours looking for them around the island, it was a bug and I’m sorry for the wasted time.

You have my apologies that these changes couldn’t make it in for the weekend. They should be on Test as soon as we make another update. While I don’t have a specific time for when the update will occur, I imagine it will be very soon and the quest should be functional again.

I’m looking forward to seeing your feedback on the rest of the Veliumdelver quests. You are all doing a wonderful job, keep up the good work.

Hmm, my biggest bugs are in the transportation system. First, when I take the griff to Bbk I'm dumped way out in the harbor and have to swim back. So far I've been killed (which does put me on the dock) every time by big baddies in the water.

Second, when I use my Call to our guild hall I go to the hall and use the house transporter to get back to New Halas. I'm set in my house but when I use the door I'm dumped way back at the starter area.

Third, when I use the World globe to get to Frostfang I'm dumped down at the Cragged quest area. Then I have to run back up to New Halas.

I guess that, finally, why isn't there a world bell on the dock at New Halas.

I'm fairly sure that others have the same problems and it may well be that these have all been /bug_ged. No matter, I'm putting this in the mix, so to speak.

Getting to the underwater cave is an absolute pain, as you don't have the ground (or anything else) as a reference. Having done it once though, it's not too difficult to find it again. The breathing totem doesn't last long either and if you're busy trying to find out which way's up so you can get to the cave, you're not watching the totem, and the waiting period after one runs out before a recast is allowed, is less than the time it takes to drown. Turning on auto-consume would have prevented this but there's no way of knowing that.

The quests so far have had a logical and cohesive story and were enjoyable. Now I have two more quests (they seem to be near the end of the questlines) in the Velinoid Catacombs, but the tunnel is sealed again. How do I reopen it?

I see a blue piece and a black piece. On land, there's no chance of accidentally heading up or down. I learned afterwards to keep stopping to check the depth so I didn't drown after my first trip there. I love the idea of an underwater cave, it's different, but without a floor, finding it is difficult.

I also have quests to finish in the Velium caves however the tunnel is closed. I cannot harvest any more of the explosive mining barrels nor can I follow any other toons into the tunnel.

Otherwise I am enjoying New Halas very much especially the housing.

Heyya!

There was indeed an issue with the Velinoid cave wall. Thank you for reporting it! You will be glad to know that it was identified and resolved on our side. I am not sure when it will reach the Test servers, but it is on its way!

Logging out will no longer cause conflict with players that had completed the quest "Ry'Gorr Mining Operations." The Velium wall securing the Velinoid Catacombs should not reappear for you.

~Kaitheel

I decided to check out the new housing. Got a house, started moving in and noticed that all my pets made a beeline for the wall where they stayed noses buried in the wall.

The tunnel is still blocked, and it's not just logging out that causes it to disappear. It's any form of zoning at all.

Those Velinoids are HARD to kill btw. For being solo mobs, they have a pretty large agro radius, and are giving my monk a hard time killing them. Hit pretty hard and have a high defense.

Evigis The Ancient = 4 levels overpowered. The closest the zone has to a heroic encounter. I could not kill him at level 20, and he's a level 20+ solo encounter. I couldn't even dent his life below 50%.

Speaking of monks, we overall do better DPS when we dual wield, but we only get a quest that offers us one 1-handed weapon in the teen levels, and the level 19 weapon doesn't even offer anything specifically geared for monks. Please consider giving another 1 hand weapon for monks to dual wield.

I'm having a big glitch problem with the quest "Ry'Garr Mining Operations." Whenever I go to the wall that I'm supposed to blow up, there are already barrels there, that I cannot collect or blow up. And there are no other barrels present at all in the cave system. If I select the barrels, it acts like it wants to attack them, and it says "Can't See Target." Please help. This is incredibly frustrating.
