update - snafu!

my guess is BG will be down for a long time, they have way too many bugs with SF and the next update is due in a few weeks. i moved to crushbone from AB due to bad lag before SF, after the release it was not playable at all. i have a new highend system and fiber connection, no reason for the lag. SOE has their talent spread too thin this year, this has been the worst release that i can remember (i started EQ1 with kunark).

I lag so badly in the new zone it's unplayable which is why I'm usually in the BG's, no lag there, well maybe in dens when most of the 48 players are in 1 huge pile.

An update would be appreciated so I don't have to log on every hour or so to see if they've been turned on.

Here's an update:

We've located the issue that was causing the slow performance last Tuesday. This problem had ZERO to do with battlegrounds but they were taken down as a precaution anyway. I know that battlegrounds tends to get the bad rap because it's new, but they are not always the cause of problems. In fact, we've got the character loading issues under control now so that there are no performance spikes as a result of characters going to and from the BG world.

We've been making some general performance improvements that will help lower the game server lag (exhibited as spell lag) which will be going into testing soon. When we are confident that these changes are working correctly, we will get them out to live servers.

We have several engineers working on performance issues and this is currently our top priority.

Lol I was queued all day just in case it came up and forgot about it. Had a Gears invite right in the middle of raid.

Funny, I haven't seen anything that makes this launch worse than EQ2 Kunark which was fairly smooth.

Now its more apparent with Battlegrounds simply because it is PvP and the problems are a lot more obvious when you can't just say "that mob is underconned" or "we're rolling through epic content because our uber strat is actually an exploit". With resists broken everybody knew mages were hitting way too hard. Now most people are going to conceed that mages need a little buffing to be competative. Balancing PvP is tricky in any game, even FPS games. It is even more tricky here because we've got PvE concerns, and PvE intended buffs on raid equipment with players ranging from barely equipped to raid equipped.
