After working my way through the learning curve in about 70 BG matches I am still left with some questions on a couple things.

The first and biggest has to do with whom to target first on the other team in a standard 6v6 game. Assuming there isn't a strong player on the opposing team that needs to be made a priority are healers, DPSers, or mezzers best to go after first.

My second question has to do with how the heck scoring works in the capture the flag scenario. I've been in games where folks hold the flag and in games where they drop it and score the points. Since I think you score points for dropping the enemy flag in your base, I seem to be missing something on this one and don't see why people are holding the flag instead of scoring.

Any insight or other tips would be greatly appreciated.

I've never watched that closely and done the math, but it seems to me you get more than 100 for capturing the flag... 150 maybe?

With regards to the Gears matches, I don't think there is a quick answer on who to target first. At times, when its more evenly matched, the answer is group build dependant, both theirs and yours.

It usually becomes obvious very quickly in any fight who your group's main focus needs to be on. For example, if you're being stunned and crowd-controled to death, look for the crowd controllers, see if you're able to burn them down through heals. Sometimes its diffcult for groups to burn through two healers. If there is an insane warlock destroying your group, hunt him down, same deal. If no one is doing much damage, or crowd control, and some crazy healer is holding them up, concentrate DPS on a healer.

I, for one, don't think there is a clear cut answer on who you go for first. You need to assess and adapt.

In fairness, I haven't done the math or seen an exact number either. I never remember to pay attention to the score at exactly the moment that I have run the flag in. You could well be right. Or, something in between those two.

Target priority certainly depends on your class and the group makeups. As ranger I do the following. I always take a few shots at healers first. If they get noticably hurt I unload everything and try to drop them fast. If they barely get scratched, I try and find a softer target with nearly equal impact. An obvious target is dps separated from the group. They're either good or stupid. Both should be killed. I get killed a lot.Certainly any relic holder is a target especially if they are a weak defence non-healer. Mage and scouts are usually easily killed as relic holders unless their tank and healer are impressive. So if you see a scout or mage relic holder, drop them. Just be ready to pick up the relic. If the relic holder is a healer or worse, a tank with a healer, it could take a lot of effort to drop them. If the other team has good dps and utility protecting you may have to kill them first. Before you can focus enough players on the relic holder. One reason I like klak is it's always different classes on each team (pugs) and it's almost never the same game. One reason I hate klak is your group could be all scouts and a necro against 2 healers, 2 tanks, and 2 dps. But it is atleast a different game which I like. If everyone doesn't give up we may atleast make them earn the win. Ofcourse I do my best to support my team. I will let that coercer run by to kill the brig attacking my healer. But as a rule I like to take down opponents already engaged in melee (can't charge me as easy) or opponents already injured.

Whatever is the largest threat to your group's immediate survival - They have a healer and you dont - They have a mage or ranger outside of taunt range (generally means they are also out of heal range) - A wizard is trying to cast fusion next to your healer - An assy is trying to spike your casters down - etc.

2. Whatever is keeping them alive - Generally healers

3. Whatever is left

Of course this has to take into account the relative gear of players on the other team. If their healer or tank goes down in a few hits they should be immediatly focused every time because the cost of them staying up is greater than the time needed to kill them.
