I have the Reach AA and in a lot of fights, I can use my close combat arts at a range that is quite a bit greater than my melee range. I thought they were supposed to be the same?

If this is as designed, then how can I set my auto-attack to permanently change from melee to ranged?

As it is, every time I use a close range combat art, it switched my autoattack from range to melee.

Cheers,

Fing

Answer to your first question - no they are in now way supposed to be the same. CA have always had a greater range than autoattack.

I am going to answer the question without getting into a discussion as to the merits to your reasoning behind it -

Some rangers create a macro for all there melee CA that has "/autoattack 2" as a second statement after the CA is called. This is turn ranged attack on after the melee CA is used. While not a true permanent change, it should have the effect you are asking for.

Thanks for your reply.

I was aware of the /autoattack 2 macro - I was just hoping for something a little less painful to implement and a little more permanent.

In some fights - I have to stay at 'max range' in order to avoid a mobs pbaoe, like the final incarnation of Tyrid Pyreflame, whose final, ghostly dragon incarnation means you have to be almost inside the mob in order to melee dps him, but for some reason combat arts still work at a considerable range.

Cheers,

Fing
