Whatever update came across the streaming client screwed it up AGAIN. So I uninstall/reinstalled EQ2 streaming client and it deleted my asset cache so I have to redownload everything AGAIN.

Seriously?

Right click the icon select Run as Administrator. There is another launcher available - it is the full download version

No - this is specifically related to a Windows update, I think. Two people, in two states, were working fine yesterday before installing a recent Windows update. One on Win7 x64, the other on WinVista x64, and now the client won't finish loading. You open the (streaming) launcher, it updates for a second, you click Start, then the start button starts flashing between Starting... and Updating endlessly.

There were 7 updates installed overnight:

KB978338KB980232KB979683KB981332KB890830KB905866an d KB987601

UAC is off, we're both running the prog as Admin, I've tried allowing the user running the game Full Control at the directory level, making LaunchPad, Launcher, and EverQuest2 all run as Admin and in Windows XP SP2/3 compatibility mode -- none of the usual tricks work.

Any thoughts?

I didnt update my win7 64 and I still cant get in with using everything you mentioned.

Where is this "full Download Version" launcher?

Yes, its still doing the same thing with those instructions you just posted.

Also, I would like to add, thank you for the link to the full launcher. I Downloaded it, and am now installing with it. Once its done, Ill come back here and say if that work worked or not.

I generally recommend using the station luancher instead of the streaming launcher you were using previously.

If i knew about the station launcher, I would rather have used it, I dont like the idea of the streaming.

I wouldn't recommend it beyond that circumstance, though.

I am running on a laptop with Vista using the streaming client. I got the same errors before and after the Windows update (I just got the updates and installed them). I tried the "delete file and run as admin" but that did not help.

It appears that the configuration for the streaming client got hosed in the last update. Here are 2 more clues to the puzzle. I found 2 new files in the install directory that point to shaders code as part of the problem, alertlog.txt and verifylog.txt. These have today's date as their create date.

verifylog.txt:

build="SOEBuild=6385L" version="SOEVersionString=2010/4/12 12:22:24" build_type="USER OPTIMIZED" ls_address="none" zone="<None>" loc=" 0.00 0.00 0.00" performance="5" verify="E:liveeq2frameworkrendersrcVeShader.cpp(10162): m_pPixelShader 0092f635"build="SOEBuild=6385L" version="SOEVersionString=2010/4/12 12:22:24" build_type="USER OPTIMIZED" ls_address="none" zone="<None>" loc=" 0.00 0.00 0.00" performance="5" verify="E:liveeq2frameworkrendersrcVeShader.cpp(10162): m_pPixelShader 0092f635"

from alertlog.txt ( a long file so only last 4 lines )

build="SOEBuild=6385L" version="SOEVersionString=2010/4/12 12:22:24" build_type="USER OPTIMIZED" ls_address="none" zone="<None>" loc=" 0.00 0.00 0.00" performance="5" alert="E:liveeq2frameworkcoreutilsrcVeNetLUT.cpp(331): WARNING - Could not find lookup table 'appearance.dat'."build="SOEBuild=6385L" version="SOEVersionString=2010/4/12 12:22:24" build_type="USER OPTIMIZED" ls_address="none" zone="<None>" loc=" 0.00 0.00 0.00" performance="5" alert="E:liveeq2frameworkvdlsrcVdlErr.cpp(85): (VDL Parser) *buffer*(0) : Error, File not found: shaders/code/genericguinotexture.vdl"build="SOEBuild=6385L" version="SOEVersionString=2010/4/12 12:22:24" build_type="USER OPTIMIZED" ls_address="none" zone="<None>" loc=" 0.00 0.00 0.00" performance="5" alert="E:liveeq2frameworkvdlsrcVdlErr.cpp(85): (VDL Parser) *buffer*(0) : Error, File not found: shaders/code/genericguinotextureworldspace.vdl"build="SOEBuild=6385L" version="SOEVersionString=2010/4/12 12:22:24" build_type="USER OPTIMIZED" ls_address="none" zone="<None>" loc=" 0.00 0.00 0.00" performance="5" alert="E:liveeq2frameworkrendersrcVeShader.cpp(10155): alert: shaders/code/genericgui.vdl: no pixel shader"

Hope this helps point to the root cause of the problem.

Are you talking windows update or the Client Update? If you mean windows update, then I have to say windows update has nothing to do with this issue. The reason I know this is simple, I have windows update Off. Last time I used windows update was feb 2nd.

That new Launcher worked great. Thank you.

Downloading the "Full Version Client" Should I (or already have) uninstall(ed) the entire game?

I've installed from disk and used the streaming client to update and have been using the streaming client to play for a couple months as the 10162 veShader error is stopping me from using the .exe directly. Current EQ2 folder size without SF expansion is ~11.2gb.

Using the streaming client i've been getting massive connecting times and a strange delays after pressing "play" (1-5mins) before Everquest2.exe fires up properly. (Firewall execeptions for eq2voiceservice.exe, launchpad.exe, launcher.exe, everquest2.exe make no difference to this delay nor do removing them and allowing when the block message comes up)

So today i thought i'd try the station launcher to improve those startup times. It informs me i have a 9gb download ahead? Really? Are all those files that far out of date? or should it be ~20gb? Considering i'm playing fine (once the patient wait is over) on the streaming client files all cant be that far out.

If you're still experiencing the <verify>m_pPixelShader error, try adding this line to your eq2.ini file.

cl_resource_address http://eq2.patch.station.sony.com/p...eq2/assets/live

This parameter is passed in by the streaming client, so this error can occur if you are using the streaming installer but are launching the EXE file directly.

As far as the E: drive paths, you can ignore those. Those filenames are for debugging purposes so we know which file the error is occuring in. All of the resources on your computer are packed into resource files and those paths won't make any sense on your computer.
