Everyone says 4second delay because most scout weapons at higher levels (esp the epic weapon) is a 4 sec delay.

By getting used to the timing now you are saving yourself the pain of having to relearn your timing.

Also, higher delay weapons tend to have bigger damage spreads, resulting in higher crits.

I seem to recall the flamberge being a good choice but that was before SF. So, basically find yourself a 4sec weapon with agi on it and you'll be good to go.

If you are speccing shield make sure to use ROUND shields not bucklers. Big difference between the two and while you CAN use a buckler, there's only a couple in the entire game even remotely worth it (and even then debatable)

actually thoes bucklers are not worth it because they will not allow the bonuses from the sta line (shield AA spec) you MUST have a round shield.

crafted long sword are 4 second dly, actually there are MANY crafted swords and daggers with 4 sec dly, I advise getting started with timing early on..

after you get some casting speed buffs/gear tho, it's alot easer, I don't think I can mess up my autoattack more than 1/5th a sec (and lag is worse than that) unless I'm debuffing.

Just buy whatever mastercrafted weapon is available and don't worry about it too much. You are going to level so fast you don't want to invest too heavily in gear. If you want to spend money, spend it on spell/CA upgrades. A good bow is nice too if you are soloing.
