<p>highest (real) clock speed you can afford, minimum dual-core (to make use of limited multi-core functionality) but don't bother with quad core if you can find a higher clock speed dual core.</p><p>EQ2 is very very very (did I say very enough yet) CPU dependent for graphics, chances are you're graphics card (even if cheap/limited) will be underused by EQ2.</p><p>There is also some variety of multi-core CPU which can go into an overdrive mode for single core programs like EQ2 (using the multiple cores to act like a faster single core).  Fairly new tho, so I don't know how well they work for EQ2</p>
