View Full Version : Looking for some Conjy advice

Heya there...

So I'm a little concerned about the numbers I'm putting out on my Conjy. I have 2 important points I need to make quite clear before people offer advice though:

1) I have only 2 pieces of the T3 shard gear, and 1 piece of T4 raid gear. I'm currently unlikely to get any T9 raid gear.

2) I'm using mostly T9 Expert spells, as they offered a DPS increase over the previous tier spells. Earthquake and Crystal Blast are both Mastered, as is the Mage pet... haven't gotten an expert on -all- my buffs yet, but I did make sure to do Conjuror's Pact.

Right now, I seem to be sitting somewhere around the 6k or 7k DPS mark, without any pre-buffs, vs solo mobs (been testing on some ^ ones as they have better HP). In bad groups, I seem to sit around the 7k to 9k mark... by bad groups, I mean ones where most of the buffs wouldn't aid me in any way. If I get a good group, I find i'm usually pulling around 10k on single mobs, and closer to 20k on AOE encounters.

I'm pretty sure my AA are good... used Xalmat's SF guide for DPS spec... seems to work pretty well. What I'm wondering is if I need to change up my spell rotation or what gear I should be looking at? I know i've got 130% crit chance, or there abouts, around 25% crit bonus, about 35% potency and around 30% spell reuse speed. Think my casting speed is about 20%... typically I decided to write this post without being on the character. >_<

So, assuming I don't raid and will be unlikely to... any advice?

You might also want to look at my other guide I wrote. It's a bit outdated (which I plan to remedy soon) but it's still useful.

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=457106

Right now you should work on improving your gear. You are overkill on Crit chance (you only need 100% now) so work on your potency, crit bonus, reuse speed, ability mod, and work on your pet's stats. Go after gear with lots of Power Flux and Molten Carnage stats, and of course anything you can find with Empowered Minion and Destructive Forces. Easy to acquire items include:

Ley Line Brace

Ley Line Gemstone

Ley Line Loop

Ley Line Shoulders

Ley Line Sleeves

Ley Line Sunrod <-- Better than Mythical

Ley Line Water Charm

Erudin Channeling Choker

Stud of the Battle Snack

Leggings of the Ghostly Wight

Kraitenae's Headress

Bracelet of the Erudite Scholars

Tallonite Sash of Sorcery

And remember, finish Epic Repercussions asap. It's a huge damage boost for us and the pet.

Epic Repercussions is done... so I have the enervated myth.

I know the crit chance is seriously over the top, so the gear suggestions are welcomed. About the only thing I have on that list so far is the Erudin Channelling Choker.

I'm really not looking forward to grinding 150+ shards for the rest of the stuff... hated it in TSO. Are the Ley Line Sleeves really that good vs the T4 ones? Because that's what I'm using ATM. I've also got the Penetrating Ice Sliver in a charm slot right now.

Ok, this is what I'm using on the Conjuror for gear thus far...

Armour:

Head: T3 Void (Nethersummoned Crown of Fiery Destruction)

Cloak: Cloak of the Scholar Primarch

Chest: Robes of Research

Shoulders: T2 Void (Aramid Mantle of the Voidcaller)

Wrists: T4 Void (Void Elementalist's Riftcloth Cuffs)

Hands: T3 Void (Nethersummoned Gloves of Fiery Destruction)

Waist: Sash of the Old Paineel Guard

Legs: Sharded Leggings of Penetrating Ice

Feet: T2 Void (Aramid Slippers of the Voidcaller)

Jewelery:

Neck: Erudin Channeling Choker

Ear: Earring of Pulsing Magma

Ear: Erudin Researcher's Jeweled Earstud

Finger: Flame Etched Anchored Ring

Finger: Ring of Jathir

Wrist: Bracelet of the Tumulus

Wrist: Constructed Golem Bracelet

Charm: Penetrating Ice Sliver

Charm: Mark of the Scholar Primarch

Weapons:

Main Hand: Enervated Elemental Dominance

Secondary Hand: The Praetor's Guard (this NEEDS to go!)

Ranged: Orb of Reprimanding

What should I be looking to replace first?

The rule for this expansion is, regarding gear:

If it doesn't have Molten Carnage, Power Flux, Empowered Minion, or Destructive Forces, throw it out.

So far in SF I have mostly focused on pet focus for my gear. Dummy parses confirmed that the pet is pretty much our main source of DPS now, and it's too easy for us to cap our own +crit and +ability mod anyway by using T4 armor with a mixture of T8 and T9 jewelry.

For T9 raid gear, you should look at the new X2 raid - it drops some pretty good stuff. As long you can get into a raid that can get past the roadblock (which is the second or third named?)

Anyway feel free to hit me sometime in-game if you want to have a look at your gear and stuff together. And don't forget that if all fails, you can always blame the chair

(It's funny that two of the tanks I used to raid with back in the days have now switched to their conjuror as their main - Janderr did that too)

Which is a gigantic departure from past expansions whene it used to contribute 30-40%.

The chair died a death!

Something involving my fat **** moving around on it too much.

Guess I need to find a robe with pet stuff on it then... shame really cos I like the 1k damage proc off it.

Basically it looks like anything i've got thats T9 with pet buffs on it, I should be keeping then (like my neck, an earring, a charm slot item, a ring, the cloak and my pants so far) and replace the rest ASAP...

That's given me a good base to start from.

Snagged the Bracelet of the Erudite Scholars today!

That's one thing off the list done.

Looking at the stats you posted and what you said about equipment, i'm not geared any better than you are (little better nowadays since i've been farming a lot lately). I manage to do 10k+ on 90+ single mobs, 15k on the training dummy and 20k+ on group encounters. You might want to look into your AAs and casting order... another hint regarding gear: The Battlegrounds gear - overpowered and misplaced as it may be - has some nice jewelry with 8% spell reuse. You will definitely want to get that, reuse speed makes a huge difference for conjis.

Want good gear and dont raid?

Go spend a couple days doing battle grounds and you will get good upgrades over what you now have.

You dont need to get all of em but main ones to work on obtaining is devestation robe/legs/boots/earing/bracelet

Not touching battlegrounds as I have moral issues with it.

Having said that, i've fiddled around a little, tweaked spell rotation, etc and i'm getting around 10k on mobs where the fight actually lasts a decent length of time... so it looked like my spell rotation sucked. I -know= my AA's were ok cos i've been using Xal's guide for that... it's worked very well.

Sadly don't have a training dummy to parse against... but i'm hitting around 15k in groups now, which is an improvement.
