I was on my Templar last night-83, and ran a cavern of the afflicted group. 90 tank, 90 mystic, 90 coercer, 90 dirge, and 90 assasin. I know that heal parses differ from gear, and the mobs and things like that, but the mystic did almost twice as much as me. I had about 400,000 while the mystic healed for over a million. I have mostly t2 and t3 gear and haven't started my epic yet-I'm a little lazy on that one. But I'm just wondering generally speaking, am I where I'm supposed to be parsing at, or lacking?

In a group instance scenario with decently geared tank and shaman, you are pretty much always going to be number two on the parse. This assumes, of course, the shaman is taking a primary healer role and not just dps'ing. Wards are simply going to prevent a lot of your templar heals from even making it to the parser. It is all about the heal mechanics.

That said, the harder the zone is for the gear/skill level of the group, the more opportunity for wards to be eaten quickly and the more reactives and straight healing plays a role and the higher on the parse the non-shaman healer is likely to be.

If you are doing your job and the group is staying alive and things are moving smoothly, don't stress over the parse. It's really only useful to find problem sources if things aren't going well (like a healer slacking off if the group keeps dying). Talk to the shaman and take turns as primary healer if you want or just put on your dps gear and throw an occasional patch heal if that is all that is needed. My very favorite Templar used to gripe to me all the time about this and even asked me to play my alt (Mystic main at the time) so she "could feel challenged".

sky is right, the parse means little when it comes to heals

Because of the nature of shamans' heals, they have priority over reactives and direct heals. So it is a rare occurence to see even a well geared/high level cleric beat a shaman on the heal parse.

You were a 83 temmplar vs a 90 mystic and you have no clue whether half the hps is in line? Dude, you have a 85 defiler. Shouldnt you know these things?

I am just posting that I agree w/what is said in this post - if you are healing with a good shaman - you will likely come 2nd on the parse. There is a defiler I group with a lot - we try to beat each other all the time (freindly competition) usually he wins - except on bosses. As said before - that is when the wards get eaten, and the group as a whole is suffering more damage. In comes the temp for the win

Also - as mentioned above - you were level 83, if you were outhealing the mystic, then there are some issues with the mystic Not to mention - your heal through the mob spells would more than likely get resists - so there goes involuntary cure/heal (which is one of my highest parsing spells in raids, and specific fights in groups)

Finally - to reiterate what what said before. If you are keeping the group alive, then you are doing your job. I generally just use the parse to see which of my spells heals the most overall and master those first. (so far that has been group reactive, single target reactive, involuntary cure and shield of faith)
