I was interested in starting a shadowknight and I had some questions.

My ultimate goal is going to be able to raid and I wanted to know what kind of place, if any does a shadowknight have in raiding.

In the end game instances can a shadowknight tank or do they have to be extremely well geared to be able to tank?

Can a shadowknight solo effectively or will it be slow? (I tried a Defiler and I didn't like the speed at which I was able to kill stuff post 20)

The reason I'm asking these questions is I've never really tanked in most of the games I played, but I found after grouping in EQ2 it seems like it will be really fun. Though, I'm curious as to what I'll be doing in endgame. I'm still fairly new and I know that Guardians are the ultimate tanks and even in raids they will be tanking, but what will my position be? I heard that Monks/Bruisers are a class that isn't even really used in raiding and I'm afraid to pick a class that will have no place in end game as a result.

I appreciate all the help!

My ultimate goal is going to be able to raid and I wanted to know what kind of place, if any does a shadowknight have in raiding.

Shadowknight have a more common place in raiding since the revamp in TSO, it was possible before to raid but after the revamp they are at least on par with other tanks. Shadowknights can be MT or OT. Shadowknight are good in tanking multiple mobs.

In the end game instances can a shadowknight tank or do they have to be extremely well geared to be able to tank?

Every tank has to be well geared to tank end game content to be efficient, otherwise you you make it more difficult for the rest of the raid.

Can a shadowknight solo effectively or will it be slow? (I tried a Defiler and I didn't like the speed at which I was able to kill stuff post 20)

Shadowknight can solo very effectivly. There are classes that can solo faster, but survival of SK is very good. Lifetap is very efficient in Solo or Group Play but less usefull in Raid. Killing multiple lower level trash mobs solo is what SK incridible good (suppressing the weak *lol*). With good gear a SK can hunt down even difficult mobs.
