BTW, always try to have a mastered charm, its way more powerful than expert.

In my experience, I like to Charm a caster pet and PE a tank pet. Casters just don't seem to do all that much damage when in PE form, where I don't find tank pets to make much difference in damage, but they get a lot more HP when PE'd. Add in that PE doesn't break, and for general soloing I tend to PE a tank.

If you have a good caster pet, then you don't need the additional HP -- you just root & nuke like any other mage, with your pet being additional dps. And then of course charming a priest can be good in that they often nuke for a good amount and they'll heal themselves if they get too damaged. That said, nothing quite compares to a good nuker, so when you find one, cherish it! I found a really nice one last night in the Stonebrunt Highlands, and I'm still doing a /happydance about it.

If there aren't any good casters about, then I prefer to PE a tank pet. Generally I send it in, stun the mob so it doesn't actually hurt the pet, cast my reactives, and burn the mob down. Pet will be regen'd to full before the next fight, assuming it even took any damage. There's no "flash" to it, but it's effective. I find I like guardians best, so look for a mob with the "Hunker Down" buff on it.

Since I posted this, I've done some expiramenting. I'm finding beserker mobs are great for PE. Have master PE, only apprentice charm, so I pretty much PE exclusively now.

that will change in a day or two when I get to my T9 charm.
