Character loss after reinstall.

<p>Greetings,</p><p>Will I lose my character if I delete and reinstall the Game?</p><p>Reason is that it's taking in the region of 15 to 19 minutes to get from pressing 'Play' to actually getting to the character select screen. It's been like this since last Wednesday.</p>

<p>No. Perfectly safe to do this. Your UI setup my be lost and you will have to reposition your windows but your characters and all their items will be where you left them.</p>

<p>They might not be on the screen where you press play,but they will stillbe there on character select screen.  I reinstall it quite regulary as I always reinstall windows to keep me pooter happy.  I've never had a problem with characters going missing.  But yes you will defo have to redo all your ui windows, unless you save that particualr folder somewhere, which I think you can do.</p>

<p>Wiping and reinstalling the client's perfectly safe. The only thing you might want to do is look for the *_uisettings.xml files in the EQ2 program directory and save copies of those to put back in place after reinstalling. Those contain the UI layout settings for your characters (how windows are arranged and such).</p><p>The only thing you'll lose is the list of characters in the client, so you won't immediately be able to go directly in-game on a character. Just go in to the character select screen and that'll recreate the character list. After that you'll have the list of characters back and can go directly into a character without having to go through the character select screen again. That's also the way to fix the character list if something corrupts it.</p>
