View Full Version : Server Could not find your Character issues

I play on Runnyeye server and as of today 20 March have been having serious issues with the server not being able to find my characters. The build is 6333L.

This evening the time taken to zone and to conduct broker transactions has been very long (for example it has just taken over 12 minutes to zone from EL to Antonica via the spires). I do not know if these delays are relevant to my problem. Today issues with the server not being able to find my character have manifested themselves. This happens when I attempt to /camp <toon_name> and also at the character select screen.

I am running the streaming client under Win7; but my husband has been having the same issues running the older launchpad under Win XP Pro. It is happening on all four of our accounts.

This is what happens:

1. /camp <toon_name>

2. Am thrown to character select screen

3. A random 4 of my 12 toons is shown; says Runnyeye is down

(Runnyeye is not down as a toon on my other account is still active)

4. I move the mouse over the screen or click on one of the toon names - now says Runnyeye not down

5. Click on Play

6. Message "The server could not find your character. Please exit and rerun the patcher"

7. Exit

8. Run Launcher.exe from the shortcut on my desktop

9. Get to character select screen and the same random 4 toons are shown; says Runnyeye down

10. Same result as steps 4 - 7

Perhaps I am missing something but I cannot see with the streaming client what exactly I am supposed to do to get the patcher to re-run?

After four attempts this afternoon and seeking help to no avail in the chat channels in desperation I renamed the logincache directory. This worked but caused a very long delay as the character select screen was rebuilt. But is this the correct solution? I hope not. The problem has reoccurred.

Your assistance with resolving this would be appreciated.

Aeriel of Runnyeye

Same here. Mistmoore Server. Only mine went something like this...

1. Hit Call of Qeynos

2. Stare at "Recieving Zone Information" for 10 minutes.

3. Press "Disconnect"

4. Repatch

5. 4 characters show up. Three from other servers and 1 Mistmoore.

6. Select Mistmoore Character

7. Message saying could not find character and gives me option to Exit.

8. Repatch. Log into Antonia Bayle.

9. /camp

10. Message saying my server is down.

11. Took a shower

12. Came back to computer. Still unable to get in.

13. 45 minutes later, all characters are back at character select.

14. Select original character

15. Stare at "recieving zone information"

Edited to add: And I'm not running the streaming client, so that's not the issue.

But to get the regular patcher, go into your EQ2 folder and select the EQ2.exe file instead of the Launcher file.

ARGH!!! I'm usually pretty patient, but this is beyond rediculous right now.

Same issue on Runnyeye

Yeah - Getting very frustrated with this. I tried Aion when it first came out - Cancelled due to it being Buggy, boring and not my cup of tea.

But at least i could - y'know - actually log in and play it!

I'm having the same problem on Mistmoore... every day... I can log in on my main but if I try to camp to another it tells me it cannot find my character and to rerun the patcher.

sometimes it takes several times to get all my chars up.. I go under preferences and full file scan and that doesn't seem to fix on the first try either

This is a known issue at the moment, and sadly it's not something that technical support will be able to fix. If you check the thread that was posted earlier you can see Rothgar stating that this is a primary focus at the moment. Hopefully the dev team will be able to get this corrected shortly. I'll post again if I have any kind of update about this problem.

The servers may have still been down when you attempted to connect. What is your home server?

Give it a bit more and check in periodically. Everything is still locked even though the servers are up. I'm checkin to make sure there isn't another problem here.

I'm on Guk...all of my toons are. I can sign in to character select (using station launcher) and I see all my toons and it shows the server as being up. When I choose a toon and hit play it tries to zone in but I stare at the receiving zone info screen for a bit with no progression on the progress bar and then it kicks me back to character select with no error.

Please exit and rerun the patcher. Now she and my son are playing just fine but I can't get on. Also all but 4 of my toons are gone.

I was on and playing and was fine, my client crashed, I went to log in and couldn't get back on. However, people have been, apparently, having problems getting in for quite awhile, even before I crashed, which leads me to believe that it's log-in-server orientated, not world server.

Locking this one up. The original issue posted in this thread is not the issue that occurred with Guk on 8/21/11 and should now be resolved.
